Was a 2-1 win for Viking. Daggers an unused sub.
Unfortunately Bodo/Glimit also won 2-1, and they stay 1st, edging Viking on GD.

After the FIFA break will be 10 rounds left to decide the league.
BG will have to juggle their UCL matches which should help Viking's cause.

Bodo/Glimt UCL games to play in 2025 -
Slavia Prague, Spurs, Galatasaray, Monaco, Juve & Dortmund.
Some of those yes will be after the Norwegian season finishes.

Bell on at HT with Viking losing 2-1. Finishes 2-2

Daggers a start and 60 mins, and Stensness returns at last. An unused sub

Bodo/Glimt won 7-1! to go 2 pts clear in first

Viking win 1-0
Full game Bell. Daggers on at HT (0-0). Stensness an unused sub

Other big news is BG held to a 1-1 draw, so the two title chasing clubs are back level on points. BG with a huge GD advantage

Bell full game in a 3-3 draw.
Daggers on at 57 mins & Stensness at 67 mins - his first playing time of the season I think.

Viking were up 3-1 at HT. Costly 2nd half.

Bodo/Glimt don't play this weekend, so Viking go a pt ahead having played a match more.
BG with a midweek trip to Spurs in the UCL.

Even worse - Viking were 3-1 up in the 97th minute. Two good hits - one a banging top-corner, pile-driver free kick - from Sarpsborg and that was that. Glimt will probably still drop points with the CL, but Viking can't afford to do this much.

Bell starts.
Daggers (who has earned a Socceroos callup this month) and Stensness on the pine.

Bodo/Glimt play later tonight.

Bell full game in a 3-0 win
BG won 2-0

Viking remain 1st a pt ahead but BG have a game in hand heading into the FIFA break

This win only sees them hold serve with Bodø/Glimt in the title race... but it opens up a seven point gap between themselves and third-placed Brann (helped by fourth-placed Tromsø also losing). Brann has a game in hand but that’s still a really healthy advantage, especially since the top two clubs in Norway get Champions League qualification. If VFK wins 5/6 remaining games then they’ll have UCL qualifiers next year at the very least.

The Run Home...
  • Viking: Tromsø (A), Bryne (H), Strømsgodset (A), HamKam (H), Fredrikstad (A), Vålerenga (H)

  • Bodø/Glimt: Sarpsborg (A), Molde (H), Brann (A), Vålerenga (A), Bryne (H), KFUM Oslo (A), Fredrikstad (H)

wonder if he was saved for the Norway game as he will be up against a style he knows well...
10 Oct 01:44
Yes & no. Only about 4-5 of the Norwegian squad play in the Eliteserien.

But having living in Norway for a number of years, I'm sure he's dead keen to start this game. Will be handy having him on the pitch as he will know what the opposition team are talking about! Plus likely know all about the strengths and weaknesses of their squad, given it maybe a Norway B starting side.
19 Oct 12:37
Bell recovered enough to start and also captain Viking.

Daggers & Stensness both on the pine. Daggers played against the USA last week for the Socceroos.
19 Oct 21:10
Viking with the 3-1 win to go 1st
Back to you Bodo/Glimt

Full game Bell. Daggers on at 77 mins to get the 3rd goal a pen. Stensness an unused sub

If Stensness struggles to break back into the team after all his injury woes, he would definately be a player I'd be happy for the NIX to take a look at.

If Stensness struggles to break back into the team after all his injury woes, he would definately be a player I'd be happy for the NIX to take a look at.
He's a fringe Socceroo, was at the Nix only one season, and discarded a possible AWs career for Australia.

If it's an ALM return it will be one of the bigger Aussie clubs or maybe AFC.
With Corica there, they have attracted a few Socceroos contenders.

The Nix can't even lure local boy Ben Waine back. That's not really a citicism, just the reality of club budgets, and how some clubs are just more attractive for certain players than others.

Viking (1st) keep the pressure on Bodo/Glimt, crushing Bryne 5-1.
Bell off at 69 mins (4-1).

Stensness on at HT (2-0), and Daggers with the 5th goal after coming on at 69 mins.

B/G (2nd) host Molde (12th) tonight. B/G coming off a tough trip to Turkey and a 3-1 loss to Galatasaray in the UCL.
26 Oct 21:30 · edited 26 Oct 22:52 · History
B/G (2nd) beat Molde 4-1.

So Viking (1st) stay ahead by a point, but Bodo/Glimt with the game in hand.

B/G play that catch up game midweek away at 3rd placed Brann. Potentially a huge match re the title race.

Each team will have 4 rounds to play, by the weekend.

Bugger B/G win 2-1 at Brann. They left it late. 3rd placed Brann up 1-0 until 76 mins.
Bodo/Glimt really are a relentless machine in Norway.

That might have been their toughest remaining game in the league season.

They go 2 pts ahead of Viking, same number of matches played now.
01 Nov 22:25
And the door opens for Viking.
Bodo/Glimy lose 3-1 at Valerenga.

Viking play Stromsgodset tonight, and if they win all their remaining 4 matches will be league champions. Simple!

Two at home as well.

Would be great if a kiwi could be at the forefront of winning a European  league and hopefully allows him to tick that off and have a move to a higher European league in January to test his ceiling after a disappointing time in Denmark.

While it may not necessarily be upwards quality wise, I wonder if the MLS will come calling with a salary he can’t turn down and he obviously knows the country from his varsity days.

Would also allow him a proper off season with his new club and not a bad place to be before the World Cup.

Auckland will rise once more

He also had a Viking team mate American Christian Cappisn sign for FC Dallas this year.
Whilst last year Socceroo Patrick Yazbek left Viking for Nashville SC

So yipe MLS clubs scout Norway.

Viking's 3rd remaining league games (2 home & 1 away) -
HamKam (11th, H), Fredrikstad (6th, A) and Valerenga (5th, H)

Viking's last Eliteserien title was in 1991!

08 Nov 22:58
Bell with Viking’s 2nd goal in a 3-0 win.

Two more victories and they are champions

B/G play tonight
09 Nov 00:00
Does what Roofs couldn't do yesterday.

09 Nov 09:45
Beat me too it- Rufer needs to ask him how to hit that top bins!
Tbf think it was a decent effort off a left foot and with lots of defense in front of him by Rufes, but not to be.

Bodo/Glimt won 5-0 to stay a point behind Viking, with 2 games left.
B/G the much superior GD.

Both teams play away post the international break, then at home in their final matches.

Fredrikstad (5th) to be the king makers. Viking play them away and then B/G host them.

.........Viking are now just two steps away from an absolutely incredible achievement... and they’re doing it with Joe Bell arguably as their Player of the Season.

Bellinho’s not been supplying a heap of goal contributions (3G/4A this season) but that’s because it’s not his job. He’s there to anchor the midfield, get plenty of touches, control the tempo for his team, and most importantly to not only get the ball to his forwards in motion but also to cover for them defensively so that they can take the necessary risks. Having said that, he is shooting more this season than in previous ones with many of those stemming from his positioning for the second phases after set pieces just like this goal.

And every now and then one of those goes flying into the net because the
thing about Joe Bell goals is that he only scores bangers. Bell’s scored six league goals across his two stints with Viking (122 Eliteserien games) and they’ve all come from outside the penalty area.

Viking Since Losing to Bodø/Glimt in July:
WWWDWDWWWWW (29/33 points)

Bodø/Glimt Since Beating Viking In July:
WWWDWWWDWWWWLW (35/42 points)

Viking have led most of the way thanks to moving some fixtures forward earlier in the season to make room for their European exploits, whereas B/G have had to play catch-up games more recently – putting them in a situation where they’re pretty much playing twice every week, between Eliteserien and Champions League commitments. It’s incredible that they’ve been able to keep winning week after week on the domestic front with only that one slip-up.

It’s even more incredible that Viking have been able to sustain this huge unbeaten streak at the most crucial time in order to capitalise on Bodø/Glimt’s only slip-up. There’s now a pesky international break before Bell returns to Norway with two games left in order to potentially achieve something legendary.

At the very least, they’ve
already confirmed a top two finish which means they’ve earned themselves some Champions League qualifiers no matter what happens with the title race.

Interesting to hear Baze say that Bell is suffering from 'hamstring fatigue', causing him to miss the October window, and have a managed load this window.

If is a long standing issue, he may stop any potential move to a Championship club given their 46 game seasons. Only 30 league matches a season in Norway and yet he has this problem? Though he does a lot of kms each game, rarely misses a Viking match or get subbed off.

Bodo/Glimt play KFUM Oslo away Friday night (NZT). Viking play Saturday night.

Is there rumours of a championship move or you just hoping?
20 Nov 02:04 · edited 21 Nov 00:40 · History
No rumours. I'm just guessing it's a favoured next destination.
British heritage. There is a cluster of AWs team mates in the Championship.

As others have mentioned the MLS perhaps another option.
An American ex Viking team mate left for the MLS this year. Socceroo Patrick Yazbek last year moved from Viking to Nashville SC. Bell went to a US College.

Playing 30 odd games rather than 45-50 better for those hammys?

Or maybe he stays in Norway one more season. Viking will have Champions League qualifiers next year, and probably Europa League football once out of the UCL.
20 Nov 03:54
Maybe Bell should go to Portland, Diego Chara is 39 so will need replacing soon. Him and Ayala might be a nice partnership.
