Welcome Joe.

We didn't expect you to get your own thread so soon, but that's what a bench appearance at Championship level will do for you.

I checked through the first 10 pages on here just to see if he'd already had his own thread. Coast clear.

Great experience for the young lad. And quite the fast elevation too!

He's made it into a Championship matchday squad before Gray, impressive.

Another keeper? Blimey. We could field an AW team of keepers with professional gigs.

Is going to make Greeny's U20 WC selections interesting.

Though if Wallis is going to be in the Baggies match day squads long term he'd be better just to skip the tourney in Chile.

Two keepers on the bench which is what allowed Wallis the spot, but Joe Wildsmith has been quite poor so Wallis could definitely challenge him for the number 2 role.

Only complicating factor is that Josh Griffiths whilst perfectly serviceable, hasn’t been totally convincing. That might encourage Ryan Mason to pick up a new number 1, which would push Wallis down to 3rd/4th choice.

Either way, great experience for him and hopefully he’ll make that bench role his own.

Good to get some background on what the GK rankings are at WBA.

Release the other 2 keepers, get Max Crocombe in on loan to be no 1, with Wallis on the bench. Problem solved!

EFL keeper turner over can be pretty crazy sometimes, even purely for the sheer number of matches they play. I've seen 5 different keepers get minutes for Cardiff in the past 12 months - if you're in around the matchday squad, there's certainly a chance at some point
Annual finals disappointment enthusiast.

Niche Cache. Eric Ramsay was Boxy's gaffer at Minny last year.

............in among West Bromwich Albion sacking coach Eric Ramsay after nine winless games in charge, they’ve also suffered an injury to backup goalkeeper Joshua Griffiths. He was subbed off at half-time of an FA Cup defeat to Norwich a few weeks ago and was seen leaving the ground in a protective boot, though Ramsay did later say the foot injury was not as bad as first feared. Griffiths was the number one for much of the season until losing his spot to Max O’Leary recently.

With him out of the picture for the
last three games, that’s meant NZ U20s rep Joe Wallis has been the goalkeeping reserve on the bench. He’d made it into a couple other matchday squads before but only ever alongside another keeper, never ahead/instead of either. This was different – this was Wallis as the next man up, one injury away from a Championship debut. Proof, if you still needed it, that he’s poised as WBA’s number three keeper.
