No Sims for GAIS. 

No Jansson either for Norrkoping. He was their starting GK for the first 12 league games of their season. If he is NZ bound bound like YH I'd guess it's more likely AFC than the Nix.

Potential Kiwi Swedish GK clash in a few weeks. GAIS will travel to Cameron Hogg's 3rd tier club Trollhattan in the Swedish Cup. Sort of match where Sims might get a game in goal.

GAIS lose 0-1. 

Their no 1 GK Krasniqi actually came off in the 2nd half (presumably injured), replaced by the no 3 GK who's been on the bench the last few weeks with Sims away in France.

So Sims may find he's thrust into the starting GK role again. He started 3 league games earlier this season when Krasniqi was injured.

So yes no Sims as GAIS win 3-1.
Normal no 1 GK Krasniqi returned from injury anyhow.

Seems like he's fallen back to third choice?

Krasniqi out (injured?) Krantz takes the gloves, and Sims sits on the bench in this mornings 0-0 draw at 3rd placed Hammarby.

I imagine the fans are mixed. It’s unclear that he handled. And even so if he’s a back up keeper and he’s saving 3 points, that’s a reasonable effort.

Edit - a 1-1 draw. GAIS 6th, 3 pts off the European spots (1st-3rd)

Sims watches a 0-0 draw. GAIS 2 points off Djurgården in 3rd, European spot. Though Djurgården have 2 games in hand.

Regardless of what happens from here GAIS have had a really good season as a promoted side, and almost wholly being Swedish players - so I'm guessing low budget.

GAIS (up to 4th) win 3-0. So in consecutive weeks draw with Malmo (1st) and comfortably beat Djurgarden (2nd).

Top 3 qualify for Europe. GAIS only 1 point behind Hammarby in 3rd. But also some teams just below GAIS with a game in hand.

And Sims gets a game in goal. Unfortunately it’s a 2-0 loss.

With 4 games left GAIS are 6 pts off the Euro spots and teams above games in hand. It’s looking like a solid mid table finish

Kees Sims has had an odd season after making the jump to the top division in Sweden. He started as the clear number two behind the excellent established veteran Mergim Krasniqi and managed to get three games back in April while that dude was injured. Then he missed some time away with the NZ Olympic squad, during which third-choice keeper Erik Krantz got a chance and did quite well.  

Sims returned and got that red card in a game against Elfsborg in August, and perhaps that knocked his standing back because Krantz has made two starts since then despite them both being available. That includes last week in a 2-0 loss to Göteborg... but this week it was Sims’ turn in a 2-0 loss to Brommapojkarna. One start each while Krasniqi’s out injured? Seems fair enough. 

Krasniqi had told media that he’d risk breaking his leg in order to play the derby game against Göteborg but it appears that such extremes were not required. He missed that one and the next one and now has the international break to get himself right.

As for the game against IFB, both goals were scored soon after half-time and maybe Sims could have gotten out further to close the angles but they were each great finishes and the holes in the defensive line were much more the problem. Sims did make a nice two-handed save later on. Comfortable defeat but he played alright. He’s now made five Allsvenskan apps plus one more in the Svenska Cupen.

And Sims gets on at 72 mins (GAIS up 1-0) as starting keeper Krasniqi gets sent off. Game finishes a 1-1 draw.

GAIS held a 1-0 lead until the 100th min.

It's been a pretty eventual season for Sims. More than most situations where you join a club to be the reserve GK. Krasniqi got injured early on, Sims played a few games. Olympics.  Krasniqi got injured again, but Sims got sent off. Seemed to be then demoted to 3rd choice??  Now he'll likely get a start again next week.

GAIS 7th with 2 games left. Sims has played 6 Allsvenskan games, with 5 starts

Niche Cache. Krasniqi's red card from the weekend.

Swedish season finishes before Nov FIFA window. Sims might even be a chance of a call up by Bazeley as 3rd GK, if say relegation threatened Burton Albion play in the window and it's decided is best Crocs stays in the UK.

GAIS win 2-1.

For what it's worth, Flashscore gave Sims a 6.6. Lowest rating of the GAIS players.

One league game left, and hopefully Sims plays. GAIS 6th, and could yet finish 5th. Highly respectable for a promoted side.

Chance of an AWs callup this month, if Crocombe is unavailable.

Sims in goal for a 2-1 win, as GAIS finish their season on a high. They finish a very creditable 6th for a promoted side.

Sims with 8 games in goal (incl once coming off the pine), got more matches than he'd probably expected at the start of the season.

Be interesting to see if in 2025 he can unseat the long standing GAIS no 1, Krasniqi. Though GAIS had one of the better defensive records in Sweden, so seems Krasniqi still playing well

Probably should be getting the Nod as the 3rd keeper for the All Whites. 

Doing very well when called upon for GAIS and has a much better upside then Sail,  who despite being helpless by his Glory defenders recently has not held up his end of the bargain for the best part of 2 years now.

...............However, Kees Sims has made three more Allsvenskan appearances since the last window. Sims was the number two behind Paulsen at the Olympics so Bazeley knows him well. Eight appearances in the top division of Swedish football with a GAIS team that finished sixth in the Allsvenskan must be getting him pretty close, surely. He’s far less established than the other keepers but none of them are playing in a competition on par with where Sims is at. This might be the best example of that ‘hard to get picked, hard to get dropped’ idea because on this current trajectory Sims is going to overtake Sail very soon and it’ll be educational to see where that line gets drawn.
