Wow, didn't realise they were struggling that much. Though they are only one point off Joel Stevens' former side Oskarhamn in the playoff spot and the season is still yet to reach the halfway mark.
If things don't improve they could swap regional league places with Torslanda and the four guys there, as they sit top (on goal difference) one game off the halfway mark. Improvement on last season when they finished eighth, though the team that won their league last year is just three points off second in the Ettan Södra.
Torslanda also might have gotten lucky in their re-positioning of which league they play in. They were in the Division 2 Västra Götaland (covering the west of Sweden's southern region) league last year, though are in the Norra (northern) Götaland league this year - as the southern-most team in the league - being based on the island of Hisingen, just west of Gothenburg. The other Gothenburg teams are still in the Västra league and Torslanda were the only team to swap. Ljungskile, if they do go down, would more than likely be in the NorraGötaland league too, given they are already north of a few teams in the league.
Tough tier to get out of though, as only the six league winners get automatic promotion, replacing the three relegated from both the Ettan Norra and Södra. Runners up split in two groups and play each other once, with the table-toppers then playing the relegation playoff side home/away.
Yes Ljungskile seem to have fallen away this season, after challenging for promotion most of last. Despite a mixed game against the USA at the U20 WC, I rate Sims. Seems rated at his club as well, getting the no 1 keeper spot as a 18-19 yr old about midway through last season.
Then reportedly training with a few UK clubs prior this season starting. Seems the most likely of these ex Ole Ljungskile/Torslanda guys to go onto bigger things.
Ljungskile turn it around with a 6-1 flogging of Ahlafors. Ljungskile jump from 16th/last to 11th with that one win. Though other teams around them all with a game in hand.
Sims in goal. Fay & Ingham both subbed on at 73 mins (5-1).
Sims in goal & Ingham 59 mins (0-2) in a 0-3 loss. Fay an unused sub. First appearance by Ingham since 30th July, and straight into the starting lineup.
Ljungskile 12th, 2 pts above the drop zone with 9 games left.
