The Hudson effect

All Whites defender Kip Colvey has sensationally walked away from professional football after losing his love for the game at 24.

I guess Tim Brown retiring early was The Herbert Effect.

Good on him. Isn’t one of the pluses of kids going the US College, that they get an education as a backup, if pro football doesn’t work out.

Medical jobs in the US pay very good money, with their heavily privatised system. So he’s looked 4 years into the future, and compared the wages and job security on offer verus the uncertainty of pro football. He can buy a nice yacht and holiday home in the Sounds in 10 years.

Neither San Jose or Rapids worked out for him. Probably hit home when he got subbed at HT in one of the early season MLS games. Sounds like was getting a hard time from some Colorado fans, who saw him as not up to it, and from memory he was back then getting picked ahead of a young local kid.
