Mona Walker with a Team of the Week section in NPL NSW.
With all the midfield departures at the Nix. She would seriously be worth looking at again.
Regular starter and consistent performer for Leichardt who are currently top of the table.

From Niche Cache. Nice move for I-P Riley.

We spend weeks wondering whether Ria Percival is going to be signed on a permanent basis by Crystal Palace, which she very well may still do, but if she does then by the time they finally announce it she’ll probably have been beaten to the mark by one of her World Cup teammates...

The Guardian: “Crystal Palace are poised to sign the New Zealand forward Indiah-Paige Riley as they accelerate efforts to strengthen their squad after promotion to the Women’s Super League. A fee has been agreed with PSV Eindhoven and the 22‑year‑old has agreed personal terms with Palace, who have not made a signing since they won the Championship to secure a place in the top division for the first time.”

It might not even be a stretch to say that Percival played a part in this transfer, possibly by a direct suggestions though almost certainly by affiliation – if you’re looking for scouting vid ahead of a loan for Percy then the World Cup is surely where you start and IPR just happened to have an excellent tournament. Since then IPR has spent a quality year with PSV Eindhoven scoring seven goals in 19 Eredivisie matches mostly as a left-winger. She’d already made 52 appearances for Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark’s top division prior to that, plus 30 games for Brisbane Roar across two stings. Pretty busy for someone who doesn’t even turn 23 years old until December. By then she’ll probably have a few WSL matches under her belt too.

Crystal Palace have just been promoted up to the top division (thanks in part to a six-month loan move for Ria Percival) but even promoted teams often have trouble retaining their players due to shorter contracts that allow more established WSL clubs to come swooping in. Palace did announce a few re-signings at the start of July but nothing else until after this IPR reporting, though they have since unveiled Danish defender Katrine Veje and American goalkeeper Shae Yanez. Indi Riley will follow soon. Maybe Ria Percival too but we’ll not make assumptions. Either way, Riley signifies yet another kiwi player moving to a major European league this transfer window. She was already in a big league, now she’s off to an even bigger one… where she’ll follow in the footsteps of Ali Riley, Rebekah Stott, and Macey Fraser as kiwi women to have drawn transfer fees.

Fern catchup Stateside. Newly promoted Crystal Palace in Utah to prepare for the new WSL season, and a friendly against Fraser's Royals.

Hopefully Fraser is fit to play. NWSL resumes 24th August.

Clegg may not debut this season in the NWSL the way things are travelling. Returned from the Olympics, now off to the U20 WWC, and RL have signed a new striker. Patience.

As for Milly Clegg, it was no guarantee that she’d be here. Although she hasn’t yet debuted for Racing Louisville, she has been training there intently since April and has made six matchday squads (Racing Lou are not a team that rotates very much, as you can guess).

They recently traded for a new striker, Bethany Balcer, which theoretically makes it even tougher for Clegg to break through in the immediate term... but that’s okay because she’s on a multi-year contract so they’re very invested in her future. Having only just gotten her back from the Olympics, Louisville might have kicked up a fuss about losing her again so soon. But they haven’t.

There have been a lot of transfers in to NWSL including Macey Frasers Utah Royals. They also have a new coach. So will be interested to see where Macey now fits in the pecking order there as well.

NWSL resumes this weekend & Royals play tomorrow. Niche Cache noted that Fraser was on the bench when Utah hosted Indiah-Paige Riley's WSL team Crystal Palace for a friendly last week. Fraser of course had that injury at the Olympics.

Utah Royals have been hosting Crystal Palace during the NWSL break and WSL preseason, sharing facilities and having a few events leading up to a friendly game to cap things off. Utah won the friendly 3-0 thanks to two Ally Sentnor goals (54’ & 70’) and a Kaleigh Riehl effort (81’) but the bit we care about is that Indiah-Paige Riley was subbed on for Palace for the last half hour, getting her first game for her new club. And although she didn’t end up being involved, the fact that Macey Fraser was kitted up and on the bench for Utah is a promising sign after her recent ankle issues.

Its great to see her playing well, but I think we need to redefine what an "assist" is.

In NWSL.
At Utah.
No Macey Fraser in match day squad. New midfield recruit Zornoza with a start.

At Racing Louiseville.
No Milly Clegg (at U20 WWC)
But new forward recruits Balcer with a start and Beckie off the bench.
Going to be tough for Milly to get game time there this season.

Both teams get the win. Utah lift themselves off the bottom of the table with there win.

Didn't understand why Kelly Brown got such limited opportunities with the Nix. From what I saw of her,she clearly knew where the goal was.

Things are competitive at Utah for Macey Fraser with recent signings Claudia Zornoza (Spain), Mina Tanaka (Japan) , Cloe Lacasse (Canada) and Julia Grosso from Melbourne City. Utah have already shed 3 players as a result.
