Football Fern Maya Hahn has left Turbine Potsdam (relegated from the 1.Frauen Bundesliga) after three seasons to join Viktoria Berlin in the 2.Frauen Bundesliga (Women's second tier). Potsdam are on a decline - were the dominant team in Germany's top women's league 2003 - 2012 (six titles) and were European champions twice (twice runners-up) in that period. They beat mighty Olympique Lyon in the 2009-10 Women's Champions League Final.

FOOTBALL FERN FOR VIKTORIA 🌿💜
Born in New Zealand, with roots in Germany and India – Maya Hahn brings cultural diversity, joy for the game, and real football passion to Berlin🚀
Three years ago, she made the move to Germany to join Turbine Potsdam – now it’s time for the next chapter in Himmelblau🩵 At just 24, the New Zealand international already brings plenty of experience, vision, creativity and energy to our midfield.
And off the pitch? You’ll probably find her outside – skating through the streets, loving life. 🛹☀️
Welcome to Berlin, Maya – let’s ride the wave together! 💥

I didn't search back far enough for a dedicated Macey Fraser thread for my post above yesterday but it was her as confirmed by Coochies post in her thread today.

What was interesting was then I found her Insta post that also confirmed her participation in the event was in the comments there was a player name whom I had not seen for a few seasons.  When I clicked on it to see who she was playing for now, my interpretation was that this player (ex-NZ age group, ex-Canterbury) had gone to States to play college football and ended up in relationship with a current NBA player and leading a very different life than if she had stayed in Christchurch!

That looks like Tui Duggan, ex U17 team amtes.
If you remember when Nix women team got announced her and Macey were the poster girls from the Nix acadamy back then.
Tui most recently was playing for Auck Utd. Not that long ago. Probably trying to make the Auck FC women's team, which is now not happening.
So seems Tui is looking elsewhere. Or just on holiday.

Lewes play in Women's National League South, in the third level in the English women's football pyramid. Nat Lawrence is the coach.

Lewes became the first known professional or semi-professional football club to pay its women's team the same as its men's team. Katie Rood once played.

New Zealand international Grace Wisnewski has agreed a three-year contract to join Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjælland.

Midfielder Wisnewski (23) joins the club after a season with USL Super League club Lexington.

Her arrival at Nordsjælland will reunite Wisnewski with her midfield partner from the Ferns, Malia Steinmetz, who signed with the club in August 2023.

From Niche Cahe. Haering must be close to a Ferns callup. Depends how she goes I guess in the Bundesliga ie does she get much playing time.

But this is the German top tier. Contrast this to Maya Hahn who has signed for a 2nd tier club.

Suya Haering - Carl Zeiss Jena (German Bundesliga)
More excellent transfer news. It had already been hinted that Suya Haering had left Turbine Potsdam after their relegation to the second tier, following in the footsteps of teammate Maya Hahn who switched to Viktoria Berlin a few weeks back. But whereas Hahn chose a second-tier club for her next stop (a trendy and ambitious one, to be clear), Haering went a different path by taking up a trial with top flight club Carl Zeiss Jena... and impressing enough that they’ve signed her up and given her the #5 jersey.

Suya Haering: “I'm really looking forward to the new challenge in Jena. For me, it's a good chance to develop and give my all when I'm needed. I want to do my part to ensure that we are successful as a team. I’m really looking forward to the city, the fans and can’t wait for the season to get started.”

Haering is an U20s international who made a name for herself as a classy fullback for Northern Rovers and Auckland United a few years back, before getting snapped up by Turbine Potsdam in January 2024. She spent the rest of that season getting her reps in the reserves and then broke into the senior side during 2024-25 after they’d earned promotion, going on to make 12 Bundesliga appearances. Carl Zeiss Jena were promoted at the same time as Turbine Potsdam except they managed to stay up.

10 points from 22 games with a -36 goal difference doesn’t sound very flash but it was miles better than the unmentionable numbers that Potsdam mustered. Fantastic to see Haering able to stick around in the Bundesliga. As long as she gets on the pitch, this will extend the streak of at least one New Zealander featuring in the German women’s top division into an 18th consecutive season.

Carl Zeiss Jena is a club that’s been good to kiwi players in the past. Or at least the Jena part has been. Carl Zeiss only had a regional league women’s team when they merged with USV Jena five years ago, but USV Jena have spent many seasons in the Bundesliga and have signed plenty of NZers through the years. Amber Hearn was the most successful, spending six seasons with the club during which time she scored 39 goals in 131 league appearances. Ria Percival, Abby Erceg, CJ Bott, and Nicole Stratford have also represented the club. So did Logan Rogerson on the men’s side - it was Carl Zeiss Jena that he joined when he left the Wellington Phoenix back in 2018, although injuries meant he only played a couple of games in the German third tier.

Up Next: Funnily enough, next weekend there’s a friendly game between Haering’s Carl Zeiss Jena and Hahn’s Viktoria Berlin

Makes sense now that there isn't going to be an Auckland ALW team this season.
Need her back in the Ferns pushing Esson.

Of course helps that Stephen Hoyle is ALW coach at the Jets.

Copied from the ex-Nix (ALW) thread. Bit odd how she didn't stay long at the Nix.
Really promising player it seems.

Signs to play in the newish (2nd season) 9 team women's USL Super League. From Wiki -
Clubs in the league have no cap on salaries or squad sizes, while minimum salaries are around US$35,000 to 37,000.

So better minimum pay than the ALW.

Jackonsville are a new team to the league, which is set to expand over the next few years. Their season starts 23rd August. Have already sold over 6,000 season tickets.

Milly Clegg yet to register a goal or assist in the Canadian NSL. Is disappointing 14 games into there season. Still looks like they continue to start her, so hope she can turn around those stats soon.

Macey Fraser not in match day squad for Utah in NWSL today. Not shown on there injury list either.... wasted talent.    'Bring her back home to the Nix!!!!!'

Kiwi girls continue to do it tough in North America.
