Much further down the list is Michael Cunningham who I assume is the ex-NZ U20 player, from Otago I think.
He's got some talent.

Yes but he is far in the depth chart: he might be selected in the supplemental draft, if he is lucky. Actually he was rated in the 283th spot by a specialist

Yeah. Read those.
I remember him being very skilled but quite slight. Coming out of a not particularly highly ranked college as well, although the image off the college site suggest he bulked up.

It seems like he had a pretty good year. Same than Cunningham , might have a chance to be drafted in the last round of the supplemental. Any other kiwi on that list?

Keat and Boxall both selected in the first round?

If Boxall went to New York he could force Boyens out.

surely it would make sense that if Boyens went to the world cup he would keep boxall out?

Neither Keat nor Boxall picked up first round, 2nd round still ongoing.

Warning. In joke.
2:47 PM EST With the thirteenth pick of the second round (31 overall), DC United select Chris Korb from Akron. Korb is the sixth Akron player off the board from the Zips. Korb is an outside back with good skills and a decent cross.

Round 2 done. Still no kiwi action.

I reckon they won't go, and even if they did 3rd round choices will probably see limited game time.

In other news, Rooney's little brother has been picked up in the 2nd round. I thought this draft was only for amateur players and he has come from League 2?

Following an initiative approved in December by the MLS Competition
Committee, this year's Combine will also feature some non-collegiate
players and international talent, including Uruguayan midfielder Paolo
Cardozo, Ecuadoran forward Victor Estupinan and midfielder Marlon
Ganchozo, Argentine midfielder Martin Rivas and English midfielder John
Rooney.

Hopefully team reassess what they don't have in their squad and pick them up.
If not, I assume their next move will to try get in the NASL.

Keat has been mentioned a lot where i have been following.
There seems to be surprise he hasn't been picked up yet.
So that's it.

Boyens isn't out of a job quite yet. No idea on Knowles, Gleeson a chance?
They could well go supplemental depending on how long they want to hang around the US.

hmm we await word on gleeson. id hope given wilkinson role at the timbers he'd be a part of the set up there. knowles doubtful
boxall and keat = phoenix A

Would think they would be looking to be part of the first 23 than the 'A' side. The aim of that side is younger than those two.

yeah i just thought given a few older players have crept in their for a game or 2. ie. paul cunningham
but yeah id love see both playing for the phoenix. we sure need to be producing more Kiwis out of that set up every year ala rojas and to a lesser extent musa
i hope keat and boxall got a college education

We'd have more degrees than any other A-league side. In fact Brownie and Lochy probably mean we already do.

Reasons why Boxall hasn't been pickep up in the Mls superdraft. Hopefully he is going to be selected along Keat at the supplemental on tuesday. I don't think that Michael Cunningham or Patrick Flemming have a chance to be selected with all the talented players from the combine still available for selection:
Michael Boxall (UC Santa Barbara): The New Zealand national-teamer went into the combine regarded among the top center backs, but his weaknesses -- struggles to keep up with fast forwards, questionable decision-making, an inability to play out of the back -- really hurt him. And his foreign status doesn't help either.
I think it's probably the foreign status. All those weaknesses would make him pretty much useless though wouldn't it?

Not good enough to play Masters footnall by that dossier.
