Hear me out here, but I wonder when the Sam Sutton rumours are going to come up? Or am I the only one who's thinking this?

He's also with the same agent as Waine & Randall - Football Asset Management/Graham Duffield.

Hasn't been seen since the second half sub appearance against Perth.

Missing from past two squads due to illness. Wonder if it's the same illness that saw Waineo end up in the UK?

Just thinking out loud here, and please take this with a grain of salt, but I will remain suspicious until he's named in the squad again. 😆

Nikko Boxall and Dan Morgan joining Auckland City for the Club World Cup it seems, going off ACFC Insta. Training pics, so always the chance they're just keeping fit but a short-term move makes complete sense

Don't think he'll be making 250 appearances for Swansea like he did on my FM save, but yeah I'd really like a move for Sutton especially if Uffie sees fit to rotate LBs this season! Have doubts about his defensive capabilities at a higher level right now but his skill going forward is bound to impress

Can't remember the kids name, but the u20 NZ LB is at the NIX and he looked very tidy in the WC Qualifiers. WOuld be happy to see him get a run if Sutton goes and he becomes the back up.

Adam Supyk.

Would be the continuation of a quite delightful little  Phoenix production line if that's the case.

Although disappointing that Colloty’s trial has been cut short due to injury, just a reminder that Marko Stamenic’s first trial with FC Copenhagen fell through, he’s flying now though.

Brother Luke is at the Nix as well and in NZ U17s. Met their Dad once who is a Pom in Canterbury

So they both will have UK passport for any future move(s) north

Not confirmed as cut short just yet, but hammy's are an absolute bitch to recover from.

Hopefully it's just a twinge and something he can recover from while he's there. Would be an absolute shame if that's crocked his chance over there this time around.

I wonder as well with the younger lot at the Nix if there are appearance/mp payments in their contracts which affects playing time. You’d think it would be counter productive given the goal of achieving and selling players on. But it’s been a topsy turvy time.
It was great to see Waine straight into the action at League 1 level. As a fan I wanna see these guys playing, whether it’s with the Nix or overseas.

I heard rumours before Christmas at one of Cashmere Technical's final matches that Kian Donkers was going to trial in the Netherlands where he was born.
Here is a "scouting report" on him:

Eddie Wilkinson, who had an outstanding season with Christchurch United is off to Australia going off his Instagram story 👀

NPL deal perhaps? Hell, maybe even someone like Brisbane Roar might be willing to take a gamble on him?

Fleetwood Town have reportedly 'joined the pursuit' for Oli Colloty, according to journalist Alan Nixon, with regards to Friends of Football who found the article. Fleetwood are also in League One, and where David Ball made 179 league appearances.

Makes sense to have several options when making the effort to fly to the other side of the world, hopefully Randall has similar options available.

Eddie Wilkinson looks like he's ended up at Eastern Lions SC who play NPL Vic 2.

Must be some decent coin on offer over there, given himself and Kailan Gould (Preston Lions - same league) were two of the better players in our National League setup, and they've both since upped sticks.

Good luck to both of them though.

An English freelance journalist tweeted today that Matt Garbett is heading to NAC Breda on loan. No mention of anything more than just a straight loan, or whether it's just until the end of the season.

NAC Breda are in the Dutch second-tier Eerstie Divisie, and sit 11th of 20 with a win-draw-loss record of 8-4-9 this season. They are also in the Round of 16 of the KNVB Cup, with a tie against Heerenveen in February.

It's been said plenty of times, he just needs to be playing. I think Carlind calculated somewhere, he's played more mins for the AWs, than in senior men's pro football (Sweden or Italy). 2nd tier Holland will do if he's starting each week.

FYI - Thomas's Zwolle host Breda 18th March.

I've been searching the transfer news daily for Garbett rumours but so far there has been very little.
In general, the transfer market (at least in Italy) has been exceptionally quiet.
As far as I know, Garbett will be on the bench tomorrow in the game vs Empoli.

Edit: OK here is the article. Let's hope they can get him on loan.

Latest on Oli Colloty.

He sure is getting around the place with these trials. Good on him too for persevering and hopefully overcoming that slight hamstring injury, which might have otherwise nipped the whole UK trip in the bud from the outset. Go on lad!

This article implies Garbett was in the stadium for NAC vs Jong AZ. I say "implied" as the articles is in behind a paywall.

With Colloty now getting a nice amount of interest, let's hope it's not too long before we hear that Donkers has been invited to trial with perhaps an Eredivisie or Eerste Divisie club's academy.

Far from saturated NAC makes room for New Zealand international
While reinforcement number six of NAC has yet to be officially presented, acquisition number seven is tonight at NAC - Jong AZ in the stands in the Rat Verlegh Stadium.

The metamorphosis that NAC is undergoing this winter is immense. After capturing Casper Staring (3.5 years), Aimé Omgba (2.5 years), Élias Már Ómarsson (1.5 years) and Tom Boere (2.5 years) are also Adam Kaied (2.5 years) and Matthew Garbett (rental) coming up. The latter is an attentive spectator tonight at NAC - Jong AZ.

The 20-year-old Garbett is currently under contract with the Italian Torino. He is a footballing midfielder with power and the ability to trot from sixteen to sixteen. A twelve-time international from New Zealand, moreover. When it became clear that an interim transfer from Donny Warmerdam was not possible, Ajax asked for a transfer fee that NAC could not afford, so NAC was switched to the 1.88 meter tall Garbett.

Like Kaied, Garbett comes from the scouting sleeve of Peter Maas, the man who officially starts as technical director from February 1.

NAC will hire Garbett until the end of this season, provided he passes the medical check. The lease with Torino, where he will be on the payroll for another year and a half, includes a purchase option.

The mid-engine from the Serie A took him over in 2021 from the Swedish Falkensberg FF, which had scouted him in 2019 at the World Cup under 17. In his first year at Torino, he played in the highest youth team, this season he only played in the first team on behalf of the first. cup nine minutes in action.

Donkers is already in the Netherlands, although no clear information on who he's with at the minute.

Him and Daniel Atkinson (VV Katwijk) were in the crowd over the weekend watching NEC Nijmegen as they took on Sparta Rotterdam, so make of that what you will. 😎

Thanks for confirming that.

I know I keep repeating myself but I've been waiting for Colloty and Donkers to get their chance outside of NZ since their performances for both the U20s and in the NL.

I'm just really liking the potential they're showing and I want them to continue to build the momentum. Once I found out Donkers was born in the Netherlands and Colloty had previously trialed with Reading's youth squads, I knew the chances were even more likely.

Unlucky 😓
But that's top footy though innit? Cut throat madness just to try get your foot in the door.

Not willing to try and take a crack elsewhere in Europe? That handy Scandinavian route being just a hop, skip & a jump to the northeast from the UK. Or even somewhere like Ireland which is seeing an ever increasing amount of Kiwi's plying their trade.

Sidenote - Also see Corban Piper's details have been updated on transfermarkt as signing on with Cobh Ramblers in Irish First Division (2nd tier) but have seen no confirmation of this anywhere on their social media pages/official channels. Anyone with details on that move?

He may have been given an offer but didn't take it?

With the u20 World Cup coming up perhaps he thought it was better to wait and see what interest he can gain through that.

Just a thought.

Gianni Bouzoukis continues his shot at a pro gig over in Finland.

Had made a couple of appearances for Salon Palloilijat (SalPa) in the Ykköscup recently, and now looks to be trying to pick up a deal with Käpylan Pallo (KaPa) who are in the Ykkönen this season as well. In fact, both sides had won promotion to the Ykkönen for this season.

Was in the starting XI for a friendly over the weekend against FC Honka (reserves?). Finished 0-0, but scant details from the match. Good luck Gianni.
