I would add Wood to this thread. I know he's only been at Newcastle for 6 months, but I really hope he gets loaned out. I fear if he stays Tyneside he's going to have wasted a year of his peak getting 10 mins off the bench and token starts in cup games. Callum Wilson fit, Ekitike looking like signing on, plus they're still looking for more strikers. He could easily go into this season 3rd or 4th choice. Hope I'm wrong, but could be an even trickier season for Woodsy than last year
Imagine the pre season (his first at the Magpies) will be very important for Wood. Could Howe be tempted to go with Wilson & Wood as dual strikers? Why not.
EPL starts in 6 weeks (1 week earlier than normal) so anyone new like Ekitike coming in, now won't have much time to get up to speed re the EPL. A reason Howe said why he signed Wood back in Jan window, ahead of more glamorous overseas options. Wood was proven EPL quality, and it's takes foreign players generally awhile to adjust to the Premier League. One thing Newcastle in the relegation zone back then, didn't have was time. So can see the Woodsman starting the season in the match day squad at a minimum.
