Hopefully he doesn't become too good or he'll represent Italy instead.

He was born in New Zealand and I have seen a photo of him in an All Whites kit before. I'm pretty sure he would rather play for NZ than fight for a spot in Italy. If he dose then he has to compete with Candreva, el shaarawy etc.

Are we going to have a thread for every kiwi in an academy or U17 team? Why do we have 'Young Kiwis in the UK' and Young Kiwis outside the UK' then?

Is that a threxit?

Any kid having a crack somewhere but not pro contracted should just be in a Young Kiwis outside NZ thread. UK, EU, US, Asia, Aussie, Outer Mongolia, whatever. Global Game.

Now playing in the U19's for Pescara getting a lot of game time.

Luca Scimia profile

Scimia has played in each one of the 7 matches this season so far for Pescara Primavera (Primavera = youth side). He has played 6 times and 421 minutes in the league and once in the Coppa Italia Primavera. They've only won once this season and every other match they've lost. Scimia is yet to score a goal or an assist.

Next Saturday they play away to Avellino U19 who are currently 14th (last) having only gotten 1 draw all season; Avellino has a goal difference of -24 and have conceded 28 goals in 6 matches. Perhaps a good chance for Scimia to score his first.

Luca Scimia back from 3 weeks of injury to score his first goal for pescara primavera against ascoli.  Won 3-0.

Scimia played 33 minutes in a 0–3 away win against Benevento and 9 minutes in a home 2–5 defeat against Chievo. Pescara's next match is on Sunday 2:30 am NZ time away to Cittadella who are currently one position above them in 9th place. Pescara have 9 points from 10 matches compared to Cittadella's 11 points.

Are the minutes for the first team or the age group team?

For the age group team, Pescara Primavera. As far as I know he hasn't yet featured in the first team.

Against Cittadella on 10 December Scimia remained on the bench throughout the match, a 1–1 draw. On Saturday he played the full 90 at home in a 0–3 defeat to Juventus Primavera. This was his 10th appearance in the league this season (11th overall).

against citadella he came on 5 minutes into the 2nd half. Goal was scored 10 minutes after he came on. Against juventus he played all first half and 25 minutes of second half.  Transfer market don't always get their information correct.

Fair enough. To be fair there's not much other information I can rely on about his league.

This website is pretty good, albeit a little slow updating.

This lad sounds good for the u20s, doesn't he? Is he on our radar?

Looks like he hasn't had the best of seasons, 22 games 1 goal. Also their first team has been relegated from the Serie A.

Has joined Niko Kirwan in playing in Serie C after joining Alma Juventus Fano on a year long loan in July.

Unused sub in a 1-0 win over Giana Erminio.

Actually made his Serie C debut last week in a 0-0 draw, with 14 mins off the bench, against Gubbio.

Had his first Serie C start a few days ago. Got 90 mins in a 1-2 loss to Teramo.

Hopefully on radar of U20s.

Got 20 mins off the bench for Fano in Serie C on the weekend.

A 0-2 home loss to Monza.

Got another short stint (subbed on at 85 mins) off the bench for Fano in Serie C on the weekend.

A 1-1 draw away to Albinoleffe. Fano had their keeper sent off at 63 mins.

Another short stint off the bench. This time 15 mins as Fano draw 1-1 with Ravenna.

Stays on the bench as Fano lose 1-0 to Feralpisalo in Serie C.

2nd game in a row been an unused sub.

Fano are struggling being dead last.

Made his first start in Serie C, in a 0-2 home loss to top of the table Pordenone.

Replaced after 57 mins.

Bit of a surprise start, as he hadn’t been getting any minutes off the bench at all in last month or so.

Good for him. Maybe NP can check out any match report in Italiano, to see how he went?!

I am certain he has been looked at before by previous age group sides and was not selected for any.

Born in NZ, so would have only have had to live there for five years before moving overseas, to be eligible?

Playing at a similar level to Zwetsloot, who was a standout in PNG with U19s.

The 5-year residence requirement is not applicable for eligibility if he was born in NZ.

No mention of Luca in the match report but it sounds like Fano played a good match and conceded the first goal late in the piece (once Scimia had come off) and the second goal in injury time after almost scoring the equalizer.
It did say Fano were missing three players which might explain why he started.

Looks like Fano FC have terminated his loan spell from Pescara.

https://www.almajuventusfano1906.com/luca-scimia-r...

"Fano, January 15 - The company Alma Juventus Fano 1906 announces that it has today defined the consensual termination of the temporary transfer of the player Luca Daniel Scimia, therefore the same belongs to the company belonging to the Delfino Pescara 1936."

Funny they think Buckingham is the AW coach :)

The article says Scimia is a dual national who has already played for NZ U17. He's recently been recalled from the Fano loan as he wasn't playing much and scored a goal for Pescara Youth on the weekend.

When did he play for our 17s? I know he went to a number of camps but not selected as far as I recall.

Looked at Transfermarket, and no international call up recorded so googled the 2015 Chile squad, and not there as I thought. Lets see if he has improved enough to crack this one.
