Seems very promising- an 18 year-old whose  already graduated from Birmingham's Youth Team to the Reserve team.
Video of him here for Birmingham Reserves v Chelsea Reserves last season:

News item on him signing one year pro deal in March on Birmingham City website:

Below is Birmingham Chairperson Karen Brady in her regular "Sun" newspaper blog: talks of  her Academy which Rowe has been playing in along with the reserves more recently. There was a Jacob Rowe who featured more than Luke in the Academy team and is slightly older- don't know if they're related? Jacob Rowe's just been released after one year on a pro deal.
Birmingham Academy is a strong one: reached FA Youth Cup Semi-final against Liverpool April 2009.
  Tuesday, March 24 2009

I'M extremely proud that our lads have reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals and drawn Liverpool.

The results have been amazing since I appointed Terry Westley as head of the academy three years ago.

If we've produced a top-class player in the last 20 years, I can't remember his name.

Now we have five young internationals and - in Luke Hubbins, Jacob Rowe and Dan Preston - three examples of how the game should be played.

Liverpool want to film the matches for their TV channel and I insist on a gigantic payment - three shirts signed by Steven Gerrard to auction at our end-of-season dinner!

Luke just signed a one year professionnal contract with birmingham, very good news!

Blues have also signed Luke Rowe, Luke Hubbins and Wolverhampton-born Jamie Dunphy on professional deals.

I say we play him against Paraguay! - although the cost of bringing him over might be huge. Alternatively I really hope he makes the NZ U20 squad.Luis Garcia2010-08-04 23:23:03

From what I understand he's not playing.

Wow that's quite sad. He went from FSE/Miramar to not even playing? I thought he was OK last year when he played club footy and for the Nix.

I seem to remember, after he was let go from FSE he went back to the UK to look for a contract, didn't he?
I wonder if he's just sick of trying to get into a pro-environment or if he's (maybe, I don't know him at all) doesn't want to settle for a lower (like Non-Conference!) team?

Shame, I always thought he had some potential

edit: I know he only played once for the Nix, but I guess I want to give him credit for his good performance

A left back without a club? Sounds like a shoe in for the All Whites

..but seriously, wasn't he in the All Whites at some point? And how old is he? 20, 21?

Shame if he hasn't picked up a club. If he plays non-league then will be one of the few with his own stats page on the FIFA website (all players who have played in a FIFA tournament have one): http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/statisticsandrecords/players/player=336344/

One full cap for the All Whites in the World Cup qualifier away in Honiara last year on 26/3/13

Played every NZ game FIFA u-20 World Cup 2011 in Colombia (v Uruguay 1-1, v Cameroons 1-1, v Portugal 0-1)

You'd think a lot of managers looking at that sort of record would want to give him a trial, especialy since he was born in England and was on Birmingham's books.

Seems to be living in Coventry and is advertising himself as a player or coach:

No news of him playing on his Twitter:

it would be interesting to see if ernie will re-consider him since louis out for the season, plus manny and box don't exactly fit the pace policy. I really enjoyed him when he played against the heart last season, same with tom biss (does anyone now whats happend to him?).

But Louis has been out for 3-4 weeks already and Ernie hasn't signed anyone (apart from that australian fullback for 2 weeks right??).

I think if he rated Rowe, or Hogg, or anyone else...they would have been brought it at least for a trial, if not already signed up. I do worry about what will happen if Boxall or Manny got injured or suspended..

Can't see Ernie wanting Luke Rowe if he hasn't played at all.. would say Ian Hogg would be a better bet, and Justin Gulley above him.

"Merrick will be without Cunningham and right back Michael Boxall, after both picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season.

Merrick said Jason Hicks, Matthew Ridenton and Jeremy Brockie were all options to replace Cunningham, while Reece Caira and Josh Brindell-South were vying to come in for Boxall.

Left back Manny Muscat will probably switch to right back for the game."

Any info on which club he's playing for in which league?

Level 8 in the English Football League system...

What a shame, thought he was at a lot better level than that. He's still young, but it'll be a long road from here.

I'm surprised he's gone to a team that low. He could be playing at a much better level. At least Conference Premier level. Maybe he felt it was his only option and for now he'd rather at least be playing?

Very close to where he grew up I think, so possibly isn't taking it particularly seriously.
