Good luck to him.

Didn't get many chances when at the Nix, but then didn't really seem to offer much when he did play.

A UK passport would have helped him get this move.
Gateshead play National League (UK fifth tier). They finished 18th of 24 teams last season.

A two-year contract in the English fifth tier for Luke Supyk following his release from the Wellington Phoenix Academy. That’s a better level than most academy grads who get released by the Nix end up at, definitely a spot he can launch a career from. The key for Supyk is that he turned up for his trial and promptly scored three goals in three games (against Blyth Town, Heaton Stannington, and Hebburn Town) whilst showing a bit of versatility across a couple different forward positions. That’s what a successful trial looks like.

Luke Supyk: “I'm delighted, really. Everyone's been real welcoming since I've come here. Had a few good games under the belt and, yeah, I'm just excited to get going for the season and meet all the fans. The lads have been helpful on the pitch as well, getting that connection, and then I just tried working my hardest. Obviously being a trialist, trying to earn a spot in the team. My contract ended with the Phoenix so I spoke to my agent and we thought the best decision was to come on trial over in the UK. They got in contact, said said Gateshead was keen, said it'd be a good fit. So, yeah, I came here on trial, and here we are.”

Got to start at the bottom, but he’s got a lot of experience already so good luck to him and hopefully not the last we see of him.

Can't stop scoring, 4 in 4 i think, three (one in each) in his three games on trial and now one against Newcastle as an official Gateshead player

Wish him all the best some of the senior Nix players had big wraps on him. Hope he dosnt prove to be another young talent under used and whose potential was under estimated by those who are making the calls. The list seems to be getting longer.

Or if he couldn’t prove them right with his time at the Nix, hopefully he can preserver and find a path this way.

I hope he does prove to be under used with us tbh - we need forwards developing for the national team, would be great if he could become a viable option

We need forwards developing for the national team.

Strikers/CFs in particular. Supyk, Perniske, and maybe Keegan Kelly (depending on what happens with him after he finishes college) are hope for that.

Good they like him, are welcoming.
& that Gateshead  v Premier League Newcastle 1:1 got Eddie Howe sacked they say.....
Luke Supyk said he moved from striker, moved to attacking midfield at Gateshead now. & he mentioned he wants to go up a league next, so that would be league 2.

Ben Waine's team Port Vale got relegated to league 2, so imagine a match together later on.

After only getting a 1:1 draw to 5th league Gateshead, when Luke Supyk scored, Newcastle went on to lose 1:4 to Bristol City, and Eddie Howe was sacked!

Luke Supyk had a golden preseason with Gateshead so it was a bummer that admin issues prevented him from being involved in their 2-1 defeat away to Eastleigh. Here’s hoping the red tape gets cleared up soon.

Wonder if the Nix or NZF hadn't signed off on the ITC yet?
