Marko Stamenic (Swansea City | Wales)

Full 90 against in a 1-0 win.

Stamenic was apparently brilliant against today. One even said MOTM material. He seems to be flying right now at Swansea.

Noah Dupont unused for the Brommies.

Champ is incredibly tight this year. Only 9 points seperate 4th place Watford and 15th place Swansea. Seems to be if you can string 4-5 wins on the bounce together then you’ll be up in the playoff spots very quickly.

Massive season for Stamenic. With stocks rising and a WC on the horizon big things are in store for him in the next summer window if this continues. Showing that he can be the centerpiece of a big championship club and handle the scrutiny and pressures that come from playing for a club with big expectations.

Great to see. Though not sure Swansea are a ‘big’ Championship club.

But yes hopefully they can go on a promotion plus. Crocombe’s Millwall next

Listen closely to the Swansea City broadcasts and you might be able to pick up a new fan chant:
He’s our big kiwi, he wears the number six... his name is Marko, Marko Stamenic”

Or something to that effect, anyway. Point being that they love him now. He’s not doing all that much different to what he was doing at the start of the season, though previous Flying Kiwis yarns have explored how he’s added a little more attacking impetus to his game, but the main difference is just that the team is much better under new coach Vitor Matos.

After winning four of their first 18 matches, they’ve since won five of their last eight and that’s including the defeat against Millwall most recently... in which Stamenic was on the bench, rested for all but the last quarter of an hour after playing every minute of the three games (!) between Christmas and New Years Day. When the team is performing and getting results, everyone looks better.

Swans lose on pens
1-1 end of NT
2-2 end of ET
82 mins Marko (1-1)

Think that means Libby and Waine are the only Kiwis still in the FA Cup

Another yellow card to add to the collection. Fortunately the league and cup are regarded as separate competitions for card count.

Unused sub in a 1-1 draw.
Like Libby I'm guessing it's workload management with the heavy schedule this time of year.

Fans were shocked he was on the bench. Lots saying why wasn't he rested in the cup not the league.

Apparently he was unwell. Definitely one of their keys players so I doubt this was a performance based decision.

One more yellow to reach the figure 10 which means a 2 game suspension if obtained before week 37 of the competition.

And that yellow sees him suspended for Swans next two games.

Marko with 85 mins in a 2-0 loss at Derby.

Extended highlights. Marko bullied by large American Agyemang at a corner for Rams 2nd goal. He's tall Stamenic but not always the best strong option to mark up on opponents at set pieces. Was Agyemang's 10th goal of the season, and he almost had his 11th ten mins later in a carbon copy.

Niche Cache. Considering he's only played 25 of 32 Swans games in the Championship, is a high number of yellows with 10.

Swansea City. They lost 2-0 away to Derby County despite having 70% of the ball. Marko Stamenic played 85 minutes with a yellow card... his tenth of the season and sadly that means he’s now got to serve a two-game suspension. He’ll miss games against Bristol City and Preston North End. Only Amadou Mbengue (QPR) has more bookings in the Championship, that dude has 11 of them. Junior Tchamedeu (Stoke) is the other bloke who has already crossed the 10-card suspension line.
