Good for him. Super nice kid Matt.
Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.
Two kiwi keepers in League 2. Hopefully I'll get to see them both play this season.
"Matthew is the son of form Glasgow Celtic goalkeeper Jonathan Gould and of course the grandson of former Cheltenham Town manager Bobby Gould."
Solid football pedigree.
How old is he?
Likely to play age group football for NZ?
I read Cheltenham are so impressed, they want him on the bench immediately for the first team this Saturday vs. Luton.

I went to the Plymouth Luton game last weekend, if he gets in goal, Luton's strikers will keep him busy.
Matthew is now Cheltenham's regular #2 goalie.
Debut in the squad on the bench 20 September vs. Dagenham and Redbridge

On the bench for their last two games vs. Burton Albion 27 September and vs. AFC Wimbledon last Saturday.

Cheltenham sit comfortably at tenth on the 24 team table, only six points off third.

Good news for the future. We've got some decent keeping stocks coming through I think.
On the bench today. Surely him, or Max etc would have made a better choice then Sail for a call up.
Cheltenham Town are only League Two. Why would he be better than Sail?
Is League Two better than the A-Leage which the Nix play in?
Why do so many people think if boys are in the UK (regardless of what league they play in) somehow they should get a look in for the AWs? IMO, In a EPL or Championship team - yes, but anything else, if a player is in the A-League or 1st or 2nd Div in a strong EU league or 1st Div in a strong Asian League or MLS, then they definitely get looked at before a League Two or Conference League player.
Totally. I think lot of people overrate English football because that's what they know most about and is what the media loves.

Possibly, possibly not, but Sail hasn't played a huge number of A League games, has he?
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite

7 appearances, all as sub.
"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...
I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...
Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...
Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."
How does a goalie make 7 appearances only as a sub? I mean that should worry everyone here
Auckland will rise once more
it's a bizarre selection that's for sure
right up there with ken dugdale calling up brad scott from central's reserve team

But Max and Matthew (maybe Steffan too) are in the first team squad in a professional environment Sail is only in reserve/youth teams currently.
Matthew has been on the bench as second choice keeper for all Cheltenham's games since September 20.
Most recently in the FA Cup demolition of Swindon 5-0 on the weekend.

Not that either made it off the pine but Max and Matthew played each other on November 29th. Both have been ever-present as their respective clubs back up keepers.

I bet Matthew's stoked that his 'ol man is just up the road.
Gone from Cheltenham - pity thought with their senior keeper on the transfer list he might have been kept on as he was on the bench nearly all season

are we looking at a classic Article 7 breach here?
- That would be my understanding unless his mother was born in NZ?
Comes more under 'persons of interest'
Grumpy old bastard alert
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Now back at Livingston (Scottish Championship) after a 6 game loan spell with Stenhousemuir (Scottish League One = 3rd tier), as starting keeper.
Can only presume at Livingston, one of the other keepers is injured for him to be sent back.
NZF applied for a FIFA exemption for Gould? If he's legit as a Kiwi must be about 5th choice keeper behind Moss, Marinovic, Gleeson & Crocombe.
bit unlucky as he missed the chance to play against rangers in the cup by a couple of days because his loan spell was over and had to go back to livingston. Seemed to do ok from match reports
