In goal for a 2-1 win. Albion up to 18th, only their 2nd win of the season.

Albion play Cambridge tonight.

Crocombe actually has a striker team mate from the Congo. Beryly
Lubala. Lubala who has never played for Congo, was sent off in the last game a win over Wigan. He's played for various L1 & L2 clubs.

From Flying Kiwis.

If you’re going to miss a national team game to stay behind and help your club instead, you might as well make the most of it by giving a man of the match level performance in a clean sheet victory. Lincoln City 0-1 Burton Albion. Crocombe made one superb fingertip save while it was still 0-0, then Lincoln got a red card early in the second half before scoring an own goal soon afterwards. Enough to win a few plaudits for his performance, right on.

That’s three wins in a row for Burton. They’d won 1/10 prior to this cheeky run. A third clean sheet of the term for Crocs, who has the third best save percentage in the entire division – remarkable for a team that’s been on the back foot in more games than not this season. He’s conceding less than a goal per ninety minutes. It was disappointing when he started the campaign as the second choice but it didn’t take long before he proved his worth in emphatic form.

There’s a reason that Burton Albion negotiated him out of the All Whites tour: he’s indispensable to them.

So he stayed with Albion through the window? Fair enough.

In camp with the AWs when they got to London (well based at Reading), and on the bench for the Socceroos game.

Hopefully Albion are tracking better higher up the table come November, and AWs can negotiate a release for that entire window. Or Albion have their L1 games suspended during that window.

Edit - quick look at Soccerway, and Albion are down to play Cheltenham Town (19th Nov) during Nov window. Cheltenham didn't play during this Oct window, so fingers crossed for next month.

The lad should be AWs almost undisputed number 1 on current form/game time.
Nothing against Woud (who had a decent game and hopefully kicks on) but bizarre he wasn’t starting against Socceroos.

Decided it wasn’t worth risking an injury?

BA's great form turnaround (up to 9th) continues. 4-1 win over Bristol Rovers. Albion with 4 consecutive league wins, and unbeaten in 7 games. When Crocombe got the keeper's spot they were last or close to. Wasn't until their 9th L1 game they got a win, so big turnaround.

Bazeley needs to give Crocombe a run of games (like March window), as he's still fairly new to the squad, and important he becomes a faimilar voice at the back to his team.

Paulsen to start for the Oly Whites up to & incl Paris. Then maybe share they share the gloves in OFC WC qualifiers, 2nd half of 2024. I think these two now look most likely to be first & 2nd choice leading up to 2026.

Woud & Sail need to rid the gaffes they often make, if they hope to upsurp them.

Crocombe in goal for a 0-2 loss.

Pompey (2nd) only edged by Bolton (1st) on GD.
20 yr old new Socceroo Alex Roberston with Pompey's 1st goal. Another Socceroo Kusini Yengi came on at HT for the winners.

Wrexham's second-string team on the park (second Wrexham game in 2 days), but Crocombe still had to make some decent saves and generally had a good game.

Flying Kiwis. Coaching change at Burton Albion.

It’s been such a solid, assured season of performances from Max Crocombe since winning the starting gig at Burton Albion that it’s easy to overlook that the team has actually struggled around him. In fact a 2-1 loss to Stevenage on the weekend was the last straw for the management. Dino Maamria got sacked as gaffer and Gary Mills has stepped up as his interim replacement.

Crocombe’s spot should be safe but it’s still a shame since the whole reason this Burton Albion opportunity arose was that he’d worked with Maamria a few years back at Southport where Crocs spent some time on loan.
