Cellar dwellers. Burton Albion (24th) travel to Cambridge United (23rd)

https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2024/10/26/england/league-one/cambridge-united-fc/burton-albion-fc/4378533/

Edit - Crocombe wins back his starting spot after 2 games on the pine since returning from the AWs.

Might be in his interests to miss the November AWs games. He won't be needed
Its some pretty miserable viewing to see Burton Rooted to the bottom of the table with only 4 points from 12 matches.

Niche Cache. At the moment BA are down to play Wigan in Nov FIFA window, though that game could be postponed.

...........Max Crocombe’s in a tricky spot too. Remember how he was benched for the first (Buron Albion) game but then played a banger in a cup game to quickly earn his way back in? Well, naturally he hasn’t been able to sustain those enormous levels and his team hasn’t been able to win. Like, at all. 13 games and zero wins. They’re stuck in last place and in big trouble already.

Harry Isted returned to the starting team for a couple of games recently, although that was immediately after the international break so Crocs wasn’t necessarily dropped. Isted conceded five goals from ten shots in a pair of losses and Crocs was back in for the Cambridge game on the weekend but he couldn’t hold a free kick shot which led to the only goal in a 1-0 loss. A couple great saves elsewhere weren’t enough. That makes it seven defeats in a row for Burton.

Finishes 0-0. Burton Albion in trouble. Dead last and only 5 pts from 13 games.

I see they sacked their coach 23rd Oct, which might be good news for Crocs - as that coach (only appointed in June) seemed to want a keeper to play out from the back. Not so much a Crocombe strong suit.

See that BA's game against Wigan on 17th Nov is now postponed.

At this stage Bindon's Reading and Waine's Mansfield are still playing that weekend in the FIFA window.

Crocs in goal for a 0-1 loss. Burton Albion had a midfielder sent off at 68 mins (0-0), they just can't get a trick.

Ashley Maynard-Brewer who has been in some Socceroos squads the last few years in goal for Charlton.
