If you’re going to miss a national team game to stay behind and help your club instead, you might as well make the most of it by giving a man of the match level performance in a clean sheet victory. Lincoln City 0-1 Burton Albion. Crocombe made one superb fingertip save while it was still 0-0, then Lincoln got a red card early in the second half before scoring an own goal soon afterwards. Enough to win a few plaudits for his performance, right on.

So he stayed with Albion through the window? Fair enough. 

In camp with the AWs when they got to London (well based at Reading), and on the bench for the Socceroos game. 

Hopefully Albion are tracking better higher up the table come November, and AWs can negotiate a release for that entire window. Or Albion have their L1 games suspended during that window.

Edit - quick look at Soccerway, and Albion are down to play Cheltenham Town (19th Nov) during Nov window. Cheltenham didn't play during this Oct window, so fingers crossed for next month.

The lad should be AWs almost undisputed number 1 on current form/game time.

Paulsen to start for the Oly Whites up to & incl Paris. Then maybe share they share the gloves in OFC WC qualifiers, 2nd half of 2024. I think these two now look most likely to be first & 2nd choice leading up to 2026.

It’s been such a solid, assured season of performances from Max Crocombe since winning the starting gig at Burton Albion that it’s easy to overlook that the team has actually struggled around him. In fact a 2-1 loss to Stevenage on the weekend was the last straw for the management. Dino Maamria got sacked as gaffer and Gary Mills has stepped up as his interim replacement. 

Crocombe’s spot should be safe but it’s still a shame since the whole reason this Burton Albion opportunity arose was that he’d worked with Maamria a few years back at Southport where Crocs spent some time on loan.
