Michael Boxall (Wellington Phoenix)
Michael Boxall (Minnesota United | USA)
hope so though
"He's a physical presence," Soehn said. "He plays big.
"I don't think he had the greatest combine, but when you watch him in his college games, he did very well. The difficult part is, when guys go to the combine, they will have been off two or three months. They are probably not the same as they were at the end of the season."
"Two up and coming New Zealand footballers have earned professional contracts in the MLS.
Defender Michael Boxall will play his football with the Vancouver Whitecaps this year after being selected as the number one pick in the supplemental draft.
Midfielder Dan Keat has been drafted third and will join the LA Galaxy, home of former England captain David Beckham.
Both Boxall and Keat are former national age-group teammates."
Good luck to them whatever stage they are at
Great stuff

"The Supplemental draft follows last weeks Super Draft and neither guarantees a contract. Boxall and Keat will have to impress their new clubs during pre-season."
Sauce - NZ Football
What's likely is someone from the NZPA or similar saw the news and misinterpreted their draft as signings. And then everyone here has just ran with it. Either way, neither player has earned a contract with either club. Hard News had it spot on earlier - Vancouver just picked up exclusive bargaining rights with Boxall.

By the same guy too Weber seems like a good sort, pretty sure I've heard him interviewed on one of the Canadian soccer podcasts I listen to.
Bit of a concern about his international status, I'd imagine if he were domestic he'd be signed by now. That being said, the Caps have a few extra import slots thanks to expansion draft trades. Fingers crossed.

Caps' SuperDraft pick Jeb Brovsky uses Twitter to promote his nonprofit, Peace Pandemic, which aims to empower youth through peaceful action. But he also revealed to fans that hulking teammate Michael Boxall is equally as intimidating off the field. "Boxall still looks scary sleeping," Brovsky tweeted.

Janicki was his old self, cleaning up everything that came his way in the air and making key interceptions and tackles. Boxall was surprisingly good, and on the strength of this performance deserves a spot on the roster, especially with Mouloud Akloul still struggling to return from injury. Knight was excellent in his old position at right back, but Duckett struggled all game and rarely did well coming forward.
Boxall is in competition for the last spot at CB with akloul. And with Akloul injured, I think it won't be long before the whitecaps announce the signing of michaelSupplemental draft pick Michael Boxall, a 22-year-old out of the University of California-Santa Barbara, filled in for DeMerit at centre back and continued to show well. He had a tough task in facing Conor Casey, who is a tank, and Omar Cummings one of the leagues top forward partnerships.
Boxall, a hulking New Zealander, will soon be officially added to the Caps roster, but DeMerit, who is nursing a groin injury, is expected back for the opener against Toronto.
