Based on some of the responses to this, some fans are happy to see him go. 

Almere are having a shark season, and when that happens every team needs a fan scapegoat.

If he can be a starter in J1 that's a good level to be playing at. Should be safe in the air in Japan you'd hope!

This is true, but doesn't take away from the fact that he has been extremely poor individually this season. Hope this move can rejuvenate him, still has a very high ceiling

I note that Kyoto Sanga now have five first-team goalkeepers, interesting to see what happens there
