Kyoto host Gamba Osaka tomorrow night in the J League Cup. Woud played many of these Cup games last season, but zero J League games. So be interesting to see if is the same pattern this season.

Their next League Cup fixture is the same day as the second All Whites-China fixture, Sunday 26th. If he plays in that match tomorrow and/or is viewed as still very much in the reckoning to start cup matches, he might not be in the forthcoming AWs squad. It's probably more beneficial, in my eyes, that he plays the club match and hopefully impress to push into challenging for the league spot than if he sits on the bench for two matches against China. The goalkeeper he split the cup matches with last year has started the league season as first choice, and the new Surinamese keeper will possibly be away with the Suriname national team, who play Mexico on the 24th (NZ time).

KS are away in Yokohama on the 18th, ahead of the first AW-China fixture on the 23rd, so to commute 2.5 hours back to Kyoto and then fly at least 14.5 hours one-way from Osaka for a couple of light training sessions under an interim coach could be a tough sell.
