Goal on debut for Northcote City
Good strike.
Needs to be in the 'Kiwis in Aus below A-League level' thread though.
Northcote play in the league below Victorian NPL. That's dire.
he should have just stayed at Onehunga Sports

Fixed.
Further proof he shouldn't get a look in for NZ currently. Playing at a level below Hicks and others etc.
I was about to join the Moses bashing as I just don't get how he is selected in our national side but I think that's more of a slight on Hudson than Dyer himself. He's not picking himself; unless he does actually have that picture of Hudson and Veitchy...
So fair play to him for getting a gig in Oz and playing away from mum and dad's place etc. But agree he's just so green and years away from really "earning" his caps. But you have to admit he is improving a lot as a player and was one of the better u20's in the islands and I, for one, will be very interested to see how he goes in the u20 World up to see if Hudson is much better than we are at talent ID.
I agree with what you said - the lad doesn't pick himself and the aim of every single player is to train and play at the highest possible level, so why not go whenever the NT coach comes calling. You will be in arguably the most competitive environment, surrounded by the country's playing elite and increasing your chances of getting a pro-gig.
This being said, I cannot wait until we have a full squad (including fringe players) who are all full-time professionals! That's the only way to progress as far as I'm concerned!
nice little highlight video on Moses, tbh is was actually quite decent.
some interesting highlights in there that don't actually make him look any good. 4:40 miss judgement of ball so no touch turn which leads to him scrambling to make a sliding tackle. couple of times show he is winning ball but giving away free kick in process. Just seem strange to me that these would be included.
rather sign this kid

Which college has he signed for?

Ok after the u20's I think it's fair to say he's miles off being a professional footballer. While he was strong on the ball when he had it and had a couple of memorable runs his movement off the ball when we were in possession was non existent. We need players in the midfield who want/demand the ball. Dyer is a good tackler etc but not a ball player and lacks the pace needed to play at a high level.
I actually also thought Clayton Lewis was very average and lacked the composure I thought he would have developed at ACFC and the AWs. Has a night left foot ( doesn't use his right unless forced to) and a good work rate when out of possession but again doesn't seem to want the ball and back himself to keep it.
McGarry and Bevan were the stars for me albeit McGarry should be playing higher up.

yeah i understand what you are saying, but at the same time his strengths didn't blow me away.

I was well impressed with Moses at the U20 world cup. He's not a ball player and that is fine. His work rate was high and his athleticism matched even the French, which is unusual for a Kiwi.
Perhaps there is something there

I think Dyer is a decent prospect and could be a useful AWs player in 5 or so years, but he's not there yet and shouldn't be being picked. I worry that he's been exposed too early now and it might have damaged his confidence and development

How is not being a ball player fine? Not for me he will be the Tim Payne, Cameron Howeison of his age.
yeah, clearly hes not close to AW standard, but i see some good things
i understand people questioning his past AW selection, but not everything about moses dyer is bad :-)

haha just his footballing ability :)
Winston Reid's agent is helping Dyer with contracts - he has trial offers from Norway and Sweden
I wish him luck - he is a good athlete and has some technical ability. If he can develop some composure on the ball, there might be something there in the future.
haha wonder if Sweden/Norway will suddenly appear on Hudsons map of players around the world, if he was to get a contract
Hopefully - then Dan Keat might get a look in
If he's off to Scandinavia, that's one less bloke we have to worry about in white aye Keat, Henderson, Old, Boxall, James (ok, US based now).
Moses Dyer off to Denmark then?
Google Translate says
"When the Vejle Boldklub goes to the training course for the first time after the summer break, there are a couple of new faces. In addition to Rasmus Lauritsen and Nicolaj Madsen, VB has a two-player visit to test the course in the coming season. It is a goalkeeper from Croatia and a midfielder from New Zealand.Head coach Adolfo Sormani and his coach team go to work on Nørreskoven on Monday, when the players get together for the first time after the holidays and coaches.
Attending training is goalkeeper Dino Hodzic (image, red.) And midfielder Moses Dyer.21-year-old goalkeeper Dino Hodzic (image, ed.) Measures 2.05m and plays in the home country's Zmaj Makarska. The big Croatian keeper already landed in the Nørreskoven last week and therefore had the first training pass with goalkeeper coach Toivo Vadum. The other is 20-year-old Moses Dyer, a central midfielder. He has appeared for a number of clubs in his homeland, while in April this year he switched to Australian Northcote City SC.Dino and Moses are expected to train with Vejle Boldklub in the first place."
Vejle Boldklub are in the Danish 1st Division (ie 2nd tier comp below the Danish Superliga).
Good luck to Dyer.
I think the negativity about Dyer is more negativity about his place in the AWs squad when everyone except Hudson can see that at the moment he is so far off the mark it's not funny. I've no problem with Moses Dyer himself but Hudson's continual selection of him seems more a case of a coach saying, "I know more than everyone else, I know a good player and you don't." Which is his right as a coach but, c'mon....
When he was the third best NZ eligible midfielder in his #SSPremiership side let alone world wide but got called up questions were asked. Hope Denmark works out for him.
Third best? Howieson, Payne,Morgan, Hudson-WiHongi, Lewis ahead of him?
What kind of City fan are you Riccardo? Dyer played for Eastern Suburbs you shambles.
Misread sorry missed the "his" - still a good question. NZ eligible midfielders in NZFC - where would he rank?
I think he was definitely below Payne at Eastern Suburbs, and definitely didn't stand out above Jordan Vale (or Sam Burfoot, when he ws there). Worse than Lewis, slightly worse than Howieson. Hudson-Wihongi too, if he was fit. Clapham, Dan Morgan?
Pevs?

I watched all the Suburbs home games - he was in my mind ahead of Vale and Burfoot (who was a little disapointing) - also he ended up early in the season playing in a wide midfield role as Ekpo and Payne locked up midfield.
Probably his biggest inditement of the SSP season was that Armin Pasagic who is a striker ended up playing in central midfield ahead of him (wasn't bad however).
