Bevan (9 goals) full game in a 2-1 win.
He didn't score but neither did Ottawa's Ollie Bassett (ex Tee Dubbs, 10 goals) one of his rivals for the Golden Boot.

Silverware for Myer Bevan & Cavalry FC, who win their 2nd ever CPL Shield after Forge FC defeated Pacific FC 3-1 in the later kickoff. This result meant neither side could overhaul Cavalry with two rounds left in the regular season.

Continental football for Myer Bevan in 2024!

Cavalry qualify through to the freshly renamed & reformatted CONCACAF Champions Cup, kicking off in 2024.

A fantastic opportunity to go up against some big clubs out of North & Central America.

Bevan with 2nd goal in a 3-0 win.

Goal sees him finish the CPL regular season as joint Golden Boot winner with Ollie Bassett (Ottawa Athletico) with 11 goals each. So 2 ex Handy Prem guys with the GB title in Canada!

Cavalry won the title 13 pts clear in 1st. They have a playoff in 2 weeks against a yet to be determined opponent.

Seeing Bassett and Bevan do so well over there, makes me wonder how the likes of JHS would go.

He'd go alright I'm sure. Is a few ex ALM fringe players in the CPL. Jesse Daley (ex Roar) plays with Bevan. Bevan himself has a Canuck passport, so that likely helped him get a deal there.

His goal courtesy of a deflection at about 4.35 mins into this highlights video.

TfC just bought a striker, besides Herdman will be looking to urgently replace his defensive lineup (including gk). The mistakes this season has been amateur at best. Big job.

That's a good endorsement for the game down this part of the world. Wonder if there's any interest in the pipeline from some of these Canadian clubs, whether they're Kiwi's or players coming out of the National League down here.

Could think of a few who'd be able to make the jump to that level.

Good call on the cold coochiee - Seems that it is already freezing over in Calgary, and with no available stadia, and an already frozen pitch, they've had to make the decision to up sticks.

So they've moved their home leg some 1000 kilometres down the way to BC and the home of Pacific FC - Starlight Stadium.

Myer Bevan and Moses Dyer might be outside chances for the auckland club. Both have been successful at the CPL level.

Bevan always looked like a smart player - maybe a little slow, which I think has held him back as he is not the strongest, or most technical player either. Good at most things, just not quite good enough if that makes sense?

Any Kiwi strikers, attackers coming to Auckland FC are likely to be sitting behind strong top drawer visa players. If they are on reasonable coin in the CPL or USL they may just want to stay there.

Though if they are to give themselves any remote chance of the AWs & the 2026 WC, they yes will need to leave where they currently are. Got to be part of Tommy Smith's thinking, coming to the ALM.

Someone mentioned a year or so ago, how would Bevan have gone if say like Ben Waine he had gone through the Nix Academy system pathway. In many ways they have similar skills sets, but Bevan's sort of done it on his own through Nike Academy, Sweden, USA, South Africa & Canada - different coaching setups, maybe some poor coaches, not a lot of continuity etc etc. We are the decisions we make.

Does Canadian football pay reasonable coin? I wouldn’t have thought so.
