Still no Pijnaker.

I find it a bit bizarre there hasn't been much Pijnaker to Auckland noise. Corica's mates Danny & Darren obviously rate him very highly and he is wasting his career away in a semi-pro comp. And if I recall correctly, when he most recently re-signed for Sligo, Auckland FC would have already been on the hunt for players. Does he just really love being in Sligo for some reason?

He's ex Ole, they were all made to believe the A League is rubbish.
There was some rumoured League One type interest, around same time Mata left for Shrewsbury.

Appears Pijnaker did start the new LOI season strong, winning Sligo POM for March. But yeah his AWs spot is under serious threat. Surman, Bindon & even Hughes all in the picture now.

Corica & McFlynn went to the AWs games in Egypt in March. Chatting to players not only about season 24/25 but seasons 2 & 3. I'm sure when 2024 nears an end and if Pijnaker still finds himself in Eire, he's have to consider AFC.

Pijnaker back at last, and what do you know Sligo win.
Full game in a 2-0 victoty.

Sligo not down to play Norman Garbett's Dundalk until 22nd Sept. They played them just before the 2 week LOI break.

Hopefully there are a few L1 & L2 teams across the Irish Sea looking at Nando.
Time to leave Eire.

Edit - wonder if Mata will try and broker him signing for AFC?  They have played together alot. WC is only 2 years, depth at CB for the AWs is increasing to the point where Bazeley can't justify picking guys from a low level league like LOI

Now is the time for him to get a real gig. He's not young any more.

Picking him now reaks of Ricki picking  Jeremy Christie unless he can get a move to the A League or similar.

He did start this LOI season well. Sligo's player of the month for March, and Sligo did start the season well. But then he cracked his ribs.

Were some rumours of L1 & L2 interest around the January transfer window (when Mata made his move to Shrewsbury) for Pijnaker. He'll be fully aware he needs to get to a higher level somewhere.

10 man Sligo (send off at 38 mins) win 2-0
Full game Pijnaker

Greive on at 63 mins (1-0) for his debut

So Pijnaker in his return seems to have been part of Sligo resurgence. He might at last pick up a gig at a higher level

As noted by Wusty in the Greive thread, a sneaky assist for Pijanker in Sligo's win.

Sligo with a friendly against Everton next weekend. Might possibly be an Everton age group team.

Sligo host Everton in a pre season friendly for the Toffies. Sligo is former club of one of the Toffees’ greatest-ever servants, Seamus Coleman.

Be interesting to hear how Pijnaker goes against an EPL team. I reckon a few L1/L2 clubs will be scouting him.

Again fingers crossed he's on the radar of a League One club or similar level.
Overdue time to leave the LOI

Full game and a yellow in a 3-2 loss

St Pats with an exotic UCL qualifying tie coming up against Sabah from Azerbaijan. Long trip for the Irish lads. They have just beaten Vaduz from Liechtenstein (over 2 legs), who of course a bit Nix like, play in the Swiss 2nd tier.

Niche Cache. Having a really good season in the LOI, but it's overdue time he left.

In the League of Ireland, Pijnaker has made 14 appearances during which Sligo Rovers have taken 27 points with a +11 goal difference. In the 14 games that he’s missed, they have taken just 13 points with a -18 goal difference.

Those stats suggest he's a decent player, and clearly not as 'accident' prone as some have labelled him on here.

I think he would of been a good pick up for the NIX of AFC. Hopefully someone in the UK thinks so to.
