Hope he's being considered for the NZ u-20's if a Spanish Second Division club thinks he's good enough. He'll be 19 in May. He joins two Aussies at the club: former Melbourne Victory midfielder Theo Markelis who signed in January and Calvin Lovric (on loan from Parma).

He'll be playing in the Hercules B team (reserves) in the Regional Preferente – Group 4 (the top regional league of Valencia and Alicante divided into four groups of 18 teams - the fifth tier of Spanish football, but just one of many regional leagues, so not comparable to the fifth tier in England which is a national comp, e.g. the third tier of Spanish football has 381 teams split over many regional leagues):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divisiones_Regionales_de_F%C3%BAtbol_in_the_Valencian_Community

Hercules were last in la Liga in the 2010- 2011 season when they famously beat Barca 2-0 at the Nou Camp - last weekend's home loss to Real Sociedad was Barça’s first league defeat by more than one goal since the 0-2 home defeat to Hercules on September 20 2010.

FULL GAME: Hercules v Barcelona B from this season's Second Div. away in Barcelona to give some idea of the standard:

Nicholas Del Moro visits WYNRS

10/06/2013

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks a lot for being here today! It´s being a great pleasure!
1) How are you doing in Italy?
At the moment I´m in a Senior B Club (Ascoli) in the Primavera, which is the equivalent to a reserve team. Things are going really well and we finished our season in 6th position. Are you able to speak Italian? Yes, I was born in Italy so it is a lot easier for me to learn the language.
2) How are you enjoying being back in NZ?
It is good to see my family and friends again. I really enjoy being home!
3) The Italian league is apparently one of the best tactical leagues in the world. Can you feel this influence in your team?
Yes, definitely! The way the Italian Coaches are doing their job, the staff and of course also the football is a lot more organised and tactical than in other styles.
4) How did WYNRS help you to become a professional player? What were the most important training aspects you still benefit from?
I took part in the WYNRS programme for around 8-9 years. Without the help of Miya, Leigh and Wynton it would have been a lot harder! In general I can still benefit from every thing, both football and life skills.
5) What are the differences between NZ and Italian soccer?
I think the Kiwi-Style is a lot more running and physical. The Italian-Style is  I would not say relaxed, but a lot more technical and less running, but you need to make up in other aspects as well.
6) What are your future goals? Where do you see yourself in around 5 years?I want to be playing for the National team. For the All Whites or the Squadra Azzurra?... Awww - still not sure. Both of them but the All Whites would be great.

And of course playing in Europe, get a first team contract and scoring plenty of goals.

Hercules sit 15th on the 20 team table, below Barcelona B:

11 Mallorca 27 9 9 9 35 41 36
12 Real Jaén 27 9 8 10 31 30 35
13 Córdoba 27 9 8 10 28 31 35
14 Barcelona B 27 10 4 13 34 36 34
15 Hércules 27 9 7 11 30 42 34
16 Ponfe. 27 8 9 10 30 29 33

Nicholas Delmoro Signs In Italy

December 12th, 2011

AUCKLAND - Nicholas Delmoro signs with Italian Serie A club Chievo.

The contract will go till the end of the current European season. An elated
Nicholas said "I am glad I have now signed for one of Italy's Premier clubs.
I have been trialling for the last three months and have sacrificed my whole
school year 11 so am happy that I can really focus on my football for the
next 6 months."

Nicholas has signed with the youth team and will stay on in Verona (1 hour
drive from Milan) until the end of June. The more famous Verona club "Hellas
Verona" are currently 2nd in the Serie B with Chievo Verona sitting in 12th
place in the Serie A.

Nicolas Del Moro, a Kiwi of Italian descent from Wynton Rufer's WYNERS Academy has just finished his debut season in Europe in the u-17 youth team of Italian Serie A Chievo Verona and finished third after AC Milan and Inter Milan. Came on as a sub after 30 min against Atalanta:

http://www.chievocalcio.tv/en/news/under-17%E2%80%99s-3-point-raid-bergamo

But not many appearances after that first season with Chievo Youth and subsequently didn't appear much for Ascoli Youth on loan 2012-13 season:

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/nicholas-del-moro/leistungsdaten/spieler_256363_2012.html

"Nicholas Del Moro was part of the club's lineup 9 times. He was 1 times in the starting team, got substituted in 1 time(s) and stayed on the bench 7 time(s)."

This. Last week's friendly against Japan would have been the perfect time to have a look at him. I'm not sure what position he plays but when someone like Rory Fallon can make the squad then surely a prospect at a real European league can.

'a real european league'?

i gather you're joking

consider the following...

life as a spanish second division footballer becomes a little desperate $$$-wise and the league is poorly regarded, especially in the bottom half.

auckland city's imports tend to have existed between the primera and segunda divisions

there are 300-odd teams in there 3rd tier.

playing in the 5th tier is nowhere near any meaningful map for a footballer and way below the standard required to get a call up for the all whites

Nicholas Delmoro - ex-Bay Olympic, ie. stakeholder in Waitakerie Utd. So Waitak now doing a reverse ACFC i.e. exporting Kiwi youth to Europe. Haha!.

Nick Delmoro celebrating with team mates on promotion.

Congratulations to former Wynrs Player Nick Delmoro for getting promoted to the Lega Honor which is the top league for their age group. Real Madrid, Barcelona and a few others are in this league. It came down to the last game which was last Sunday. Nick was a starting member and his team had to win to get promoted to the Lega Honor..

Nick scored in the 3rd minute to make it 1-0. They ended up winning 2-1. Best part, Nick scored with weaker foot right outside the box. Which helped his team get promoted to the Lega Honor.

Well done Nick from all of the Wynrs Family

This kid is doing really well. They must rate him at Hercules to start him in the title decider. It'll be great for him to be facing la Liga youth teams such as Barca, Real Madrid etc. next season.
He only turns 19 this month I believe so will be eligible for the NZ u-20's next year.
Nick the toast of his Hercules team-mates:

Actually, lower than that - below Serie D in the regional Eccellenza Piedmont and Aosta Valley League (Italian: Eccellenza Piemonte-Valle d'Aosta) - one of 28 regional leagues in the fifth tier (467 teams) of Italian football spread throughout Italy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acqui_U.S._1911

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eccellenza_Piedmont_a...

"Eccellenza Piedmont and Aosta Valley (Italian: Eccellenza Piemonte-Valle d'Aosta) is the regional Eccellenza football division for clubs in the regions of Piedmont and Aosta Valley, Italy. It is competed amongst 32 teams, in two different groups (A and B). The winners of the Groups are promoted to Serie D. The clubs who finish second also have the chance to gain promotion, they are entered into a national play-off which consists of two rounds."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eccellenza

Eccellenza (Italian for "excellence") is the fifth level (since 2014-15) of Italian football. It is a regional league, composed of 28 divisions divided geographically. All 20 regions are represented by at least one division except for Piedmont and Aosta Valley which share 2 divisions. Veneto, Tuscany, Sicily, Lazio, Emilia-Romagna and Campania also have 2 divisions each, while the region of Lombardy has 3 divisions.

Yeah, what standard might that be? without seeing it, it sounds like something like the Hawke's Bay Regional League. Hardly setting the world on fire is it? wonder what kind of coin he would be on?
