Finished 2-2, with Haka getting 2 goals post 90 mins. A 4-3 win for SJK on agg over the 2 legs.
No European football for Haka next season.
Whyte ended up playing 27 league games (16 starts) with 3 goals. Hopefully enough to see him re-signed for 2025. He had to trial at the start of this season, before getting a contract with a new coach coming in.
Sort of guy (age 24) that might need a 3rd NZ team in Christchurch to ever get a crack at the ALM??

The 12 team Qatari top tier is actually decent. They get allocated 2 spots in the AFC Elite Champions League, whilst the A League gets only one spot. This year they had a 3rd club make the Elite CL (West), via the qualifying playoffs.
2 of their clubs have made the quarter finals after the pool stage. The Mariners for comparison were dead last in their pool (East). Not surprisingly Saudi clubs finished in the top 3 spots in the West.
For sure the 2nd tier a step down but Muaither were in the top tier last season (finished last), and I see they have a 28 yr old English defender who played 150 odd games for Doncaster Rovers & Peterborough.
Fair play to Whyte. The money decent enough to be a professional, and a new travel experience. Just try park some of the dodgy human rights stuff he may witness to one side.
In June 2022, after years playing as a members-owned amateur club, Manchester 62 was sold to Pittsburgh City United founder Michael Anton Monsour. As part of the takeover, the club announced plans to follow the lead of Pittsburgh City United by mandating protective headgear for its players, subject to approval from the Gibraltar Football Association.
As part of the takeover, the club filmed a documentary and announced plans in March 2023 to submit a report to UEFA regarding the impact of protective headgear on head injuries.
On 19 February 2023, the club announced that 21-year-old YouTuber Theo Ogden would assume the role of technical director, making Ogden the youngest person to take up the role at a professional European club, however, Ogden has since left the role. This was followed by the appointment of Anthony Limbrick as manager in June 2023.
However, the club suffered huge setbacks with investors pulling funding mid-season, leaving the club in a precarious position with multiple players leaving after the club failed to pay them. The club's future was secured in May 2024 with a $20 million cash injection from angel investor Takashi Cheng, through his private equity firm Monstranamus.
Sponsors
From 2013 to 2022, the club was sponsored by CEPSA Gibraltar. Upon the takeover by Monsour, the club partnered with Gibraltar Alzheimer's and Dementia Society (GADS). As of 2024, the club's kits are supplied by Joma. In 2023, the club partnered with Unequal Technologies to provide protective headgear for players. The club's shirt sponsors since 2023 are the Concussion Legacy Foundation.

Tamupiwa Dimairo also played in Gibraltar a few years back. Zimbabwean born, but he was a NZ rep for U17's, so we'll take that.
A quick look back through the old Transfermarkt files, and both Whyte and Dimairo both played for the WeeNix at the backend of 2016 - Alongside the likes of Joe Bell, Sarpreet Singh, Logan Rogerson & Oli Sail.
Does not look one bit happy in that promo photo lol
Maybe the Finns are little like Russians, who don't like to smile. They famously ran TV ads in Russia encouraging people to smile(or how too) before the WC in Russia.
Maybe it's a case of "What is there to smile about!" 😁

Well Haka were relegated last season, so it's Ykkösliiga football rather than Veikkausliiga football this time around for Whyte.
That, and the club just had one of the stands at their home ground burned to ground.

Finland ranked the happiest nation in the world 2024.
