Rory got 71 min in 4-0 home win over Dunfermline. Had a couple of chances from headers in first half but not much mentioned in reports. Strike partner Vernon got a hat-trick.

Hasn't set the world on fire with one goal to his name and that coming from the spot, however, Aberdeens results certainly have improved since he's signed which is a positive.

Fallon is crap. Will forever live off one goal. Poor signing for the Dons. Panic Buy.

The point also gets Aberdeen out of the relegation zone, although only on goal difference.

Aberdeen has definately performed better since they picked up Rory.

I know this is a pretty poor way to evaluate a players performance but it just struck me as funny that Rory Fallon, a striker, warranted nine mentions in the BBC live text for 8 fouls conceded and one defensive header!

Given all those fouls it's hard to believe there wasn't an entry for "Rory Fallon is shown a yellow card ..."

He gave away a bucket load of fouls at the world cup too. He found Jesus but not control of his elbows.

Most fouls of any player at the WC IIRC. That stat and the fact that Xavi made more passes than the entire AWs squad have really stuck in my head

A little tough on Fallon,

He's done nothing wrong in an All Whites shirt, gives fouls but also creates alot through his sheer physicality.

I would think that Wood and Smeltz would be the 1st too players picked. Not sure of Killens form.

Creates a lot of free kicks to the opposition maybe. I've never seen him create a lot through his sheer physicality. In my humble opinion, he's a donkey.

You obviously rate him, as you're entitled to do.

I think it depends a lot on the opposition. Italy and Paraguay especially were cynical enough to use his physicality against him by falling over and clutching their faces etc. In lower league British football where Fallon comes from that wouldn't matter but at international level that gets called a foul every time. If we want to develop as an international side there isn't really room for a player like him. Wood is clearly the man for the future in the middle of our strike force. He's also big and strong but offers much more in the way of goal scoring than Fallon. Fallon will always be the one whose goal got us to the WC and deserves a place in NZ Football folklore for that, but he shouldn't be kept in the side simply on the basis of that moment

Sums up my thoughts exactly.

no doubt he was the main component of our attacking plans in 2010 in terms of his potential to wreak havoc in the air, so we tend to forget that he is well and truly capable on the ground as well, as he showed frequently in the buildup games.  come world cup time, all delivery was aerial, so the he became an easy marking job.  by the time we played paraguay, the delivery really had fallen away quite badly.

anyway, i guess my point is that he is pretty good and has more than one dimension to his game.

i'd have wood and smeltz ahead of him, but if we persist with playing three up front, he'd still be close to killen and Kosta for a starting spot as number 3
