Rory got 71 min in 4-0 home win over Dunfermline. Had a couple of chances from headers in first half but not much mentioned in reports. Strike partner Vernon got a hat-trick.

North of the border, Rory Fallons Aberdeen picked up a vital win over Dunfermline in the Scottish Premier League. Fallon failed to get on the score sheet in the 4-0 win but did force two sharp saves from Pars goalkeeper David Gonzalez.

Hasn't set the world on fire with one goal to his name and that coming from the spot, however, Aberdeens results certainly have improved since he's signed which is a positive.

Fallon is crap. Will forever live off one goal. Poor signing for the Dons. Panic Buy.

Fallon scores in a 2-2 draw with St Mirren. First goal in a while as far as I can see.

The point also gets Aberdeen out of the relegation zone, although only on goal difference.

Nice article about Rory Fallon...

"Belief is one of Fallons bedrocks. After finding God with his wife Carly on a holiday in Tenerife, the striker has found a purpose."

LOL! I wonder if God and Carly felt a bit sheepish. I bet they never went back to Tenerife again.

Aberdeen has definately performed better since they picked up Rory.

He may not be a huge goal scorer, but he does make defences think because of his size and ariel threat which helps create opportunities for his team mates.

Had 13 mins in their nil all draw, they are lower end of the table, a few results would get them mid table

Suggest quotes for the played (i.e. "Played"). i have this habit of searching the BBC live text of matches involving kiwis as one means of gauging their contribution. Fallon's efforts this morning are captured below:

73:24 Substitution
Darren Mackie is brought on as a substitute for Rory Fallon.

71:57
Free kick awarded for a foul by Rory Fallon on Steven Davis. Sasa Papac takes the direct free kick.

68:30
Free kick awarded for an unfair challenge on Dorin Goian by Rory Fallon. Dorin Goian takes the direct free kick.

66:04
Corner taken left-footed by Sone Aluko from the right by-line, clearance by Rory Fallon.

61:47
Free kick awarded for an unfair challenge on Maurice Edu by Rory Fallon. Direct free kick taken by Maurice Edu.

34:06
Free kick awarded for a foul by Rory Fallon on Dorin Goian. Steven Davis takes the direct free kick.

11:13
Foul by Rory Fallon on Kyle Bartley, free kick awarded. Kyle Bartley takes the free kick.

10:05
Rory Fallon concedes a free kick for a foul on Sone Aluko. Dorin Goian takes the direct free kick.

6:16
Carlos Bocanegra fouled by Rory Fallon, the ref awards a free kick. Allan McGregor restarts play with the free kick.

2:54
Rory Fallon gives away a free kick for an unfair challenge on Dorin Goian. Allan McGregor takes the direct free kick.

I know this is a pretty poor way to evaluate a players performance but it just struck me as funny that Rory Fallon, a striker, warranted nine mentions in the BBC live text for 8 fouls conceded and one defensive header!

Given all those fouls it's hard to believe there wasn't an entry for "Rory Fallon is shown a yellow card ..."

Oh dear. We can look forward to loads of long balls being lumped towards him as he lumbers about fouling opposition centre backs then.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

He gave away a bucket load of fouls at the world cup too. He found Jesus but not control of his elbows.

Most fouls of any player at the WC IIRC. That stat and the fact that Xavi made more passes than the entire AWs squad have really stuck in my head

A little tough on Fallon,

He's done nothing wrong in an All Whites shirt, gives fouls but also creates alot through his sheer physicality.

I would think that Wood and Smeltz would be the 1st too players picked. Not sure of Killens form.

Creates a lot of free kicks to the opposition maybe. I've never seen him create a lot through his sheer physicality. In my humble opinion, he's a donkey.

You obviously rate him, as you're entitled to do.

i thought he was outstanding in the build up matches, especially against australia at the MCG, where he was dominant on the ground and in the air, but descended to a battering ram at the world cup reg222012-02-02 07:38:45

I think it depends a lot on the opposition. Italy and Paraguay especially were cynical enough to use his physicality against him by falling over and clutching their faces etc. In lower league British football where Fallon comes from that wouldn't matter but at international level that gets called a foul every time. If we want to develop as an international side there isn't really room for a player like him. Wood is clearly the man for the future in the middle of our strike force. He's also big and strong but offers much more in the way of goal scoring than Fallon. Fallon will always be the one whose goal got us to the WC and deserves a place in NZ Football folklore for that, but he shouldn't be kept in the side simply on the basis of that moment

no doubt he was the main component of our attacking plans in 2010 in terms of his potential to wreak havoc in the air, so we tend to forget that he is well and truly capable on the ground as well, as he showed frequently in the buildup games.  come world cup time, all delivery was aerial, so the he became an easy marking job.  by the time we played paraguay, the delivery really had fallen away quite badly.

anyway, i guess my point is that he is pretty good and has more than one dimension to his game.

i'd have wood and smeltz ahead of him, but if we persist with playing three up front, he'd still be close to killen and Kosta for a starting spot as number 3

My thoughts on this is when we are playing a 3-4-3, Wood and Fallon should only really be the target man. The other 2 positions need to be able to drop into the midfield from time to time and Fallon isn't the man for this. In fact Killen and Smeltz are probably not really suited to it perfectly either. I would much prefer 2 of Wood, Smeltz and Killen plus one of Kosta, Rojas, Brockie or maybe even Daniel who would all add a bit of variety.
