He didn't feature in the squad for the Dons last game of the season, a 0-0 draw v St Mirren on the weekend which left them finishing 9th in the 12 team Premier League.
Despite reports of a knee injury suffered in the match on 21 April, Rory did play 69 mins on May 5 in a 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock- so he can't be too injured...

ABERDEEN FC striker Rory Fallon today vowed fans will see his best form in the new season.
The New Zealand international striker insisted he is finally back to full fitness after battling long-term injury.
The 30-year-old Aberdeen FC star said: “I feel like I am finally getting my old body back again.”

Maybe I took that differently but to me he's saying that he's not willing to step up for his country if they need him - I mean just because he's not going to start doesn't mean that there won't be injuries etc which will mean we will need him. I get that the travel is a huge issue and the club vs country debate has people on both sides, but I think its just not cricket for our overseas based players to not want to come back for World Cup qualifiers but to talk about wanting to play at a World Cup again. If playing at a WC means that much to you you should be available to play in the games that will get your nation there. After the Solomons debacle too I would have thought that the need for everyone to step up would have been clear.
I don't think we should read too much into those comments. My guess is that Fallon knows his place in the All Whites pecking order right now, and accordingly is a little hesitant to risk his spot at Aberdeen. Also, it didn't seem to me as though he was declaring loyalty to club over country in all circumstances, he just seems realistic as to what he stands to lose or gain from playing for either team.
Personally I've never had qualms with Fallon's commitment, I think he's a bit of a donkey football-wise and I know some people have a few personal issues with the guy, but I don't think many would say he isn't committed to the team. I think that same sense of commitment probably applies to his club team as well so it's not hugely suprising that he'd tend to want to help them out rather than warm the bench over here.

Personally I think he's a donkey and the only people who would benefit from him being in the A League would be the orthopaedic surgeons who have to fix the cheekbones he'd smash with his elbows.

I thnk we're saying, if we want to move on to a more "modern" style of football, Fallon isn't really the type of player we'd be looking at.
