i must say, looking at his club goalscoring record, he has never scored regularly for anybody. assume he'd pick up a contract somewhere in the champ'ship/league one vicinity though

Fallon to become Wellingtons marquee stricker for next season

Fallon scored this morning in Plymouth's 3-1 away win over Barnsley. they have signed on loan Kenny Cooper from 1860 Munich. He has 10 games and 4 goals for the United States, and is a big target man. Fallon keeping him on the bench so far.
Sounds like he lobbed the goalie from 35 yards for his goal and also picked up a couple of assists.

Anyone read the letters page in the sports section of the HOS today? All letters from Plymouth fans on there article last week regarding Fallon club v country. Some of them pleading for us to pick him to get him out of there team for a couple of weeks and another one telling us to keep our hands off because we are going to get smacked anyway at the WC

if that goal sounds as good as it does then he would've shut a few critics up for a few weeks.

Even more so if it was as good as it sounds.

Interesting game against Barnsley.

Was originally played in Plymouth back in November and Argyle (Rory was playing) were losing 4-0 after 20 mins.  Got called off by ref because of a dodgy surface caused by heavy rain.

Three months later after two previous atempts to play the game in Plymouth failed due to the weather, its held up there and Argyle win.  There must be some well pissed off people in that Yorkshire back water right now!!!

Just saw the goal that he scored with his foot.  Was good but the sides second goal which took a deflection form Mackie into the goal would have been the best that I've seen him score.

Argyle should have won, conceded a shocking own goal back pass intended for the keeper but keeper looking other way

Well you can see what he is driving at. He has trying what is best for his player and get the best outcome he can get so their team don't get relegated.

Once they are out of the championship, it is basically average salary level for the players and the club will lose players etc. There are decent money in the English Championship with a million dollar deal with TV networks for each club. Lose that and it's struggle for small money in the league 1 or league 2.

Can't really blame him to make a drama out of it.

Wish it was as simple as that because then other AWs has to be treated the same manner if NZF was to remind fair however the international friendly is not an expense to the clubs but an expense to the countries association and since it is a game in the FIFA international window, clubs are bound to FIFA rules to release players.

In the club defense, they don't want to release but they are bound to rules to release and you can also see that they wouldn't also have pay for 1st class ticket when they felt that they being "punished" already for releasing a player as it is. This is why they are sitting down talking it out.

If NZF allows a special case with Fallon by allowing him to travel 1st class then other players have to question why they are not with either the club or association and it builds resentment. NZF thinks that it would not affect them and have no need to pay the extra cost. The club thinks that they shouldn't pay the extra cost because the association didn't have to select him for the game. The extra expense can also by done the player himself, but then why force a player to pay his own way and the player association would not be happy with that either. So it is an Mexico stand off with the extra cost.

See front page.  His agent makes himself look like a fool again.

Regarding the flights, shouldn't Rory be happy enough being selected for NZ at all? I'd swim to LA if I were picked for that match.. Also, why not talk to NZF about his concern rather than the press? FFS

Don't forget that this is the guy whose agent threatened to sue us after the All Whites/Bahrain game.

I can imagine him being the type of player now to think he's better than the rest of the squad after scoring such an important goal and such an important time.. I hope if it's true Ricki will bring him back down to earth in time.

I don't really want to knock the guy but all I will say is that the Fallon apple hasn't fallen far from the tree and he really needs to look at himself and his mouth quickly before he gets branded a nut job like his dad is...

Grumpy old bastard alert

Hmmm yeah he really does come off as a bit of a dick. Well his agent does at least.

Where did they get the info that he'd be traveling in economy????

I hope they fly him all the way there and make him sit on the bloody bench, just to really piss him off!

NZF told them it would be 'Premium Economy' which is apparently better than 'Standard Economy'.

Put him in the luggage compartment.

You should be honored to play for your team, if not then retire from international football altogether

Anyway, not sure Fallon was the guy who was making the fuss anyway. It was more like the club coach and his agent. Rory Fallon is a nicer guy than his father from what I understand.

All the complaints seem to be coming from others around him (like his girl of a coach and his agent) but I'm sure the original bitching came from him.

I can't stay mad for too long though, he held his arm up in a celebratory fist-pump (that sounds bad) an extra few seconds at the parade giving me time to take a picture.
