Its incredible the Chinese interest we are getting. Makes me wonder if they have offered anything for Bertos or Paston?

If Fallon and Smeltz played at the same club it would be pretty cool. The CSL would get a bit of coverage in NZ if there was four guys plying their trade in it. Ashame Smeltz put him off.

he is definitely a little unusual, but I suppose all he is really saying is that he didn't get the right feeling about the move

What i dont get is why he shunted the Turkey offer. I know Id rather play in the Turkish 1st tier than f**king around with that League 1 bullsh*t.

For the laughs, every time Rory Fallon mentions the Lord God, his son Jesus Christ or their insubstantial friend the Holy Ghost, substitute Dread Cthulhu (or other discarnate entity of your choice). It's funnier:

"One club has come in for me, but I don't feel Dread Cthulhu wants me to go," he said.

"I will wait on what Dread Cthulhu says. I don't feel I have got a clear message to leave yet, so I'm staying."

Fallon continued: "I'm instructed by Dread Cthulhu, and I keep telling people this.

"They probably think I'm mad, but I know full well that when (former Argyle manager) Paul Sturrock came in and wanted me to go to Southend I had a dream and Dread Cthulhu told me to stay at Plymouth.

Fallon's comments have picked up quite a bit of media in the UK, including 'THe Fiver'.

My thoughts exactly. I thought it would be a no brainer.

Can someone sneak in to Rorys house in the night and speak to him and tell him to sign with the Phoenix for a small amount of money.

He's on good money at Argyle, one of our most expensive players and probably got offered less in Turkey.  His contract is up at the end of the season, then he can do what he likes without Plymouth demanding a potentially off-putting transfer fee.

Is it possible that the good Lord - much like many of us - thinks Rory needs taking down a peg or two, and so he's told him to stay put so he can experience a boring, frustrating year playing mediocre football in a nothing league for bugger-all money?

As a Christian, I believe that it is possible that God can see Rory having a storming season at Plymouth. And I am so sick of people criticising him for saying he thinks he could play in the Premier League, no one would ever get to that level of football if they didn't think they could make it. Maybe people should look at it from a "wouldn't it be great if he made it?" perspective. Honestly, some feverites are the biggest arseholes. Critical_Lemon2010-07-28 21:36:38

I don't think it's blasphemy on my part to suggest that maybe God wants Rory to have a miserable season to teach him humility. God likes humility, right? Wouldn't it be worse blasphemy to suggest that God really cares about a particular football player's career, as opposed to the health of his soul?

tvnz are doing their best to talk up Fallon:

(Claim he's only 23)

(Claim he's "in demand")

Dont make me laugh!

EDIT: In the second article they round up his age to 29 (its actually 28)...now I am laughing!

Just got home from watching Argyle draw 1-1 with QPR and boy was Fallon very average.... so bad that he wouldn't have started in the NZFC.

He even had a one on one and headed it miles wide of the goal after a great cross in and no pressure at all.

Was cracking me up listening to the Green Army taunts to Rory about "God telling him to score, not to sign for Brighton" etc

The vast majority of New Zealand media is disgraceful, and they are even worse with football for the most part. At least they're making an effort.

Rory starting in the first game of the season for Plymouth at Southampton, so just chucked a couple on him to score.

As a side note, Southampton's kit is mint.  I love a sash.

Watching now, did the commentator just say that Fallon scored or he contributed to the goal?  Not fully sure what he meant.
