Isn't it funny how Marinovic went from being a joke, playing in obscure overseas league, to now being one of the best performers and a regular starter for the All Whites. Not quite so sure he's a key player yet, we lose Chris Wood and can't score a goal. I feel we have a couple of goalkeepers who would have excelled too, but he was great none the less.

I was one of his biggest doubter. He's certainly done well in the tournament. I still think he has deficiencies in his positioning and technique. I hope those don't show through against better opposition. Either way, he really needs to be playing at a higher level to develop more.

A good Confed could be a career maker for him! Based on his All White form its hard to see Moss getting in ahead of him

His biggest weakness when he was younger was dealing with crosses. Whilst still not his strong point he seems to have sorted that out now. Has always been a good shot blocker.

Unterhaching have started season with a bang winning their first 5 games, to sit top of the table. Be great to see them promoted to Bundesliga 3 (realise very long way to go) and Marinovic playing at a higher level than the German 4th tier.

I note Unterhaching play in the Bayern zone of the 4th tier, with Rojas's Stuttgart II in South West zone - so looks unlikely the two AWs will play against each other this season.

Marinovic was in goal a few days ago as Unterhaching were knocked out of German Cup by Bundesliga side Mainz 05.

Brave performance by home side (big home crowd of 7,000) being only in the four tier - losing on penalties after was 3-3 in normal time.

Unterhaching had a great run in the German Cup last season, but this time out they are knocked out in the 1st round. Bit unlucky to draw a top Bundesliga side in round 1.

7 wins on the trot now.

5-0 over Schweinfurt yesterday. Looking good for promotion already, 4 points clear and a game in hand. Would be great to see him play at a higher level. Unterhaching seem a well drilled team, with some good players, considering they've been very competitive against Bundesliga 1 & 2 teams based on their runs in the German Cup the past couple of seasons.

Unterhaching blitzkreig rolls on with a 5-0 win over Illertissen. That makes it 9 wins win from 9 games, and a goal difference so far of +25!!

Only bad news for Marinovic, is he has no doubt had little to do of late. That will change in a big way if he starts either of friendlies against Mexico & Mexico North.

Unterhaching finally drop points with an away 0-0 draw verus Seligenporten.

They have played 10 games, 9 wins & a draw.  Only 5 goals conceded.

They are still 5 & 7 points ahead of the 1860 Munich II & Bayern Munich II sides, who are next on the table.

Both Werder Bremen II and Mainz 05 II, play in the next level up (3. Liga = 3rd division).

3 teams are automatically relegated from 3. Liga at season's end, whilst 4th tier is split into 5 regions (Unterhaching is in the Bayern region).

So with only 3 teams promoted from the 4th tier, there is a playoff series amongst the regions. The playoff series involves the 5 regional winners, plus the runnerup from South West region - to grab the 3 promotion spots, ie Unterhaching finishing top of the Bayern region table doesn't guarantee promotion.

Bayern Munich II currently 3rd out of 18 so a draw against them away is a good result. Unterhaching 6 points ahead still and with a massive goal difference of +25 in comparison to 1860 Munich II and Bayern Munich II's +7.

Next match at home to Wacker Burghausen (12th) and then away to TSV Buchbach (17th currently) so in theory they should get back to their winning ways. Unterhaching still with the 100% home record, winning every single game.

Unterhaching won again on the weekend, are still unbeaten after 14 games, and a massive 14 pts clear of 2nd placed Bayern Munchen II.

They have a GD already of +33!!

Is only a 34 game league (big 2 mth winter break of Dec to Feb) so unless it all goes seriously wrong Marinovic's team will go into promotion playoffs in 2017.

Out of coursity USA goal scorer today Green is on books at Bayern and mostly plays for their II side!

Unterhaching defeat Ingolstadt II 5–1. I can't find anywhere whether he played or not but I assume he did. Unterhaching remain 1st with 41 points. Second place is Bayern Munich II who have played one match less and have 27 points.

Next match is away to SpVgg Bayreuth on Friday (Saturday NZ time).

On Friday Unterhaching continued their domination with a 4–0 win away to SpVgg Bayreuth in front of 427 spectators. Unterhaching remain first and now have 44 points, a goal difference of +41 and 14 points ahead of second placed team 1860 Munchen II who they will play next week at home.

This was Marinovic's 8th clean sheet of the season.

9th clean sheet of the season for Marinovic, however it comes in a 0–0 home draw to 1860 Munchen II. Unterhaching remain 1st with a 14 point advantage. 3,600 attended the match, the highest this season for them.

On Saturday they play at home to 1860 Rosenheim who are currently 14th in the table.

On Saturday they defeated 1860 Rosenheim 4–0. 10th clean sheet of the season for Marinovic! Unterhaching now lead the league by 16 points having a total of 48 points.

Next Sunday the 13th Unterhaching will have to do without him as he's being called up for the All Whites. They'll play away to VfR Garching (4th).

On Sunday the 13th they did extremely well despite not having Marinovic, destroying the team that was 4th (VfR Garching) 8–1 at Garching's own ground. Couldn't be any better as it's always "good" the replacement keeper doesn't keep a clean sheet, at least for Marinovic and NZ fans. The match included a hat-trick from Stephan Hain who last season was a 1860 Munchen player in the second division; he has scored a spectacular 22 goals already this season—so let's hope he keeps it up throughout the season.

Unterhaching now have 51 points and a goal difference of +52. They continue to lead by 16 points. Although it seems like everything's in the bag already, it is important to know that the winner of Regionalliga Bayern (this division) will have to play in a promotion playoff against the winner of another Regionalliga, so promotion's not guaranteed no matter how well they continue doing until that playoff.

Marinovic's first match back, after another clean sheet (this time with the All Whites), will be away to SpVgg Greuther Fürth II (12th) on Saturday the 19th.

Marinovic goes off injured at half-time in a 3–0 away win at Greuther Fürth II. Not sure how serious the injury is or what it is.

Unterhaching now have 54 points and a goal difference of +55. Their lead is still 16 points with the second placed team being Bayern Munich II.

Bayern Munich II will be their next opponent with the match at home on Saturday 26th. Hopefully Marinovic plays.

Unterhaching played 2nd placed Bayern Munich II, and won 2-1. Big home crowd of 5,000.

Marinovic not in the match day squad. Presume injured.

The league now goes into it's lengthy 3 month winter break, not re starting until early March 2017!  When league restarts there will only be 13 regular season games left, and as Unterhaching is a massive 19 pts ahead of Bayern Munich II - they basically have the sole promotion playoff spot sewn up.

After 3 month winter break! Season has restarted for Unterhaching with a 1-0 away win over 4th placed Augsburg II, with Marinovic in goal.

There is now only 12 regular season games left, with Unterhaching a huge 21 pts ahead of 2nd placed 1860 Munich II, and with a positive goal difference of +57!!

So bar a Kevin Keegan Newcastle style choke they have the sole promotion playoff spot sewn up, from the Bayern region.

With the German 4th Div, there are 5 regions and 6 promotion playoff spots, with 3 winners of playoff games promoted to the 3rd Division.

In Marinovic's absence Unterhaching finally lose their unbeaten record going down 1-2 away to Schweinfurt

Unterhaching have had a draw & loss last few weeks, but still comfortable 14 points ahead of 1860 Munich II (in 2nd place) at top of the table - with 9 regular season games to go.

Unterhaching drop more points with a 3-3 draw away to Illertissen. They have had 2 draws and a loss in the last 3 weeks. Gap has now narrowed to being 12 points ahead of 1860 Munich II in 2nd place.

8 regular season games to go, so hopefully Unterhaching don't drop the bundle completely and hang onto top slot and the sole promotion playoff spot.

Unterhaching's patchy form since winter break continues with 1-1 draw verus Seligenporten.

Luckily nearest rivals 1860 Munich II also only drew. So gap remains 12 points with 7 games to go.

Unterhaching beat Memmingen 2-1 to confirm themselves as winners of the league. They are 14 pts ahead of 1860 Munich II, and with 1860 only having 4 games to play (max 12 pts), title is Unterhaching's.

Unterhaching will play one of the other Regionaliga winners (there are 5 regions) over 2 legs in promotion playoffs, in bid to be promoted to 3. Liga (3rd division).

http://au.soccerway.com/national/germany/regionall...

Marinovic might be on the move anyway (given recent time at Wolves) esp if shines at Confeds Cup.

Unterhaching's (Bayern region champions) promotion playoff opponents confirmed, as Elversberg.

Elversberg won the Südwest region of the Regionaliga (4th Div), but won with far less ease than Unterhaching winning the Bayern region. Unterhaching have only lost 1 game all season, though their results have been less impressive since league resumed in February, after the winter break.

First leg on Saturday 28th May is at home for Unterhaching, with 2nd leg away on 1st June. Unterhaching still have 1 regular season game to play this weekend.

Anyway good luck to Marinovic & his team mates in bid for promotion to 3. Liga.

Not sure if Marinovic now in Belfast with AWs, or playing 2nd leg with his German team mates on Thursday.

Anyway Unterhaching looking good for promotion.
