Given the discussion around comparison between the two leagues, it will be interesting to see how McGlinchey goes at Motherwell.

I do think that the standard of the A-League is better then alot of expats, either on holiday or living in Aussie/NZ give it credit for.
A lot of arrogance I've seen from a few ex-pats who seem to only want to bring the A-League down. Not saying most or even half are like that, but a few I've talked to have been shockers.
One such offender is my soon-to-be-uncle who didn't play professionally or even semi-professionally over in Stoke but a number of players in his league got picked up by lower league pro teams and he's been claiming that the standard he played at was at the same level as the A-League.
While it doesn't matter I'd love to see how a few of the A-League teams went against mid-table SPL teams, for the sake of interest.
And I'll be watching with interest to see how McGlinchey does with Motherwell.

Got the last 10 mins or so off the bench in a 3-2 win this morning.
No chance now... Boyens will be well ahead of him and he wont see any game time.
Spot On, he must be gutted. I do wonder though if I will be part of the extended squad. You would have to think that surely the +7 will train with the 23 so that if the need arises, the replacements know whats going on within the squad proper.

He has signed a one month loan contract with Cowdenbeath in the Scottish first div.
And a start. Their keeper sent off after seven minutes.

He was on the bench and didn't get on, as his mob beat Celtic 1 - 0.

Nice one.
They just went 3-2 up in the 77th minute, the coach must have faith in Old to get him on to shut up shop. He replaced the stiker.
No sing of Oldie this weekend. Killy drew with St. Mirren 1-1. They have a 6 point break on the relegation zone
No sign of Oldy this morning.
Still no sign. Right out of favour it seems
Unused sub in 1-0 away loss vs Hearts on Saturday 10th
Third-from- bottom in league currently...
Unused sub again today
No sign of him in the match day squad.
*Watching the paint dry*
"Well this is getting old"
"Well this is getting old"
Startin on the bench vs st johnstone:
unused sub again
Not even on the bench vs aberdeen

NEW OLD INTERVIEW
New interview with Old from his local paper Manawatu Standard. He's currently back home enjoying a holiday with his parents on their farm at Longburn.
Seems to be handling his omission from the 23 man squad well, despite his natural disappointment. Says "I thought honestly I would make it" because of playing professionally at a good level in Scotland. But he has no gripe with the players chosen: "they're good players in a good team."
At 24, he says "hopefully for the next couple of campaigns I'll be there."
Has one year left on his contract at Kilmarnock who survived in the Premier League by drawing on the last day. Other players haven't been so lucky with 10 out of 29 players at the club not having their contracts renewed.
Killie haven't appointed a manager for next season yet- are biding their time to see who's available.
I know he didn't get much game time at Killie this season, but at least he is still in the picture there, he made the bench quite a few times. I am happy for any Kiwi to being at Professional clubs anywhere in the world, he is training at a high level, he is still on 24. If he keeps improving over the next couple of years and stick with a half decent club and competition then he should crack back into the All Whites squad.
It shows how far the All Whites have come, 10 or 15 years ago(before the Kingz) half our squad was being picked from amatuer clubs. Now we are leaving players out that are with teams in the SPL.
Its all good, hopefully Old cracks on and gets more game time next year with Killie.

Kilmarnock has changed his coaching staff and with that steven has more chance to play as a regular this year`:
Manawatu's football international Steven Old returns to Scotland on Wednesday july 7th after receiving good news.He might have just missed out on being part of the All Whites' World Cup campaign but he will have a new manager at his Kilmarnock club in the Scottish Premier League. His new boss is Finnish, Mixu Paatelainen, who has previously managed Hibernian and Cowdenbeath. Old, 24, was little used by the former Aberdeen manager, Jimmy Calderwood, who took over last season.
...or could end up completely on the outer...
played one preseason game but not the last one vs blackpool:

"Kilmarnock star Steven Old" - Never thought I'd hear that.
Steven number 14 has been taken by another player david silva and according to wikipedia he is the only squaad player who doesn t have any number assigned. In addition he just played one preseason game. Does that mean that new coach paaatelainen doesn t count on him?
Was a second half substitute in a 1-0 loss vs luton town and now is wearing the shirt number 12:
Played in a routine win over local opposition but not in the squad for the match against Vailladolid
He has signed a one month loan contract with Cowdenbeath in the Scottish first div.
Manawatu > Jets > Phoenix > Kilmarnock > Cowdenbeath.
What a sad career.
What a sad career.
And a start. Their keeper sent off after seven minutes.
He played 75 minutes in a 2-2 draw but in the lineup he seems to have played in midfield:
is this him?
