Think Bill will be better with a guy like Themi alongside him. Feel like it's all rested on his shoulders in that DM role.

Themi's PAS Giannina undefeated in their last six games (four wins, two draws):

http://int.soccerway.com/teams/greece/pas-giannina...

Fifth on the table (Panathinaikos are third).

Full 90 for Themi in their two league games since All Whites duty - 26 appearances (4 goals) for him this season

PAS have played 31 league games with three left to go before the season concludes on May 10.

Given that he's so decent, how'd he alude us all (YF and FM incuded) for so long?

Ricky was well aware of this young man.

Herbert had favourites he didn't want to dislodge from the team which was a major short coming. I remember Herbert saying Winston Reid didn't want to play for NZ and when the media asked Reid, Reid said he had never been asked. Reid's first game was on the right wing even though he was a centre back.

Its not surprising he was overlooked especially when it might have displaced some of Herberts mates.

Seems that the good folk at Wellington Olympic knew about him and NZF had been informed but only people in those two circles knew about him.

Interestingly, Themi played a season for Olympic juniors as a kid and his uncle was a highly-rated Olympic defender in the Central League. Themi was born in Greece to a mother from Wellington but has been visiting Wellington to see relatives over the years.

This post on the previous page from someone with ties to Wellington Olympic fills in some detail:

Good highlights from PAOK from their 1-1 draw with PAS Giannina.

http://www.paokfc.gr/en/matches/paok-pas-giannina-...

With the flashes seen on highlights and the last AW match, be pretty keen to see a full match which Tzimopoulos plays in.

Just for the study of the craft of a CB.

Seems to know his stuff.

Finished the league 6th.

Seem to have financial issues, some debate about their acceptance into Champions League (didn't qualify).

Lost 3-1 to Panathinaikos, Tzimopoulos was absent. He received a yellow in the match before so possibly suspended.

We (Nix) need new CBs, what do you think the chances are of him playing in yellow and black next season?

On the pod, did they say Ernie was in Europe?

I'd be excited if it happened.

He said on the radio that he is in Europe on holiday and not on nix business, his family made him take time off so sounds like scouting isn't really on the cards.

he's playing in the midfield for his club. If Winston was fit he'd be worth a run there unless the plan is to wait until Reira is eligible

Two headaches in view of tomorrow's match against Panetolikos has Yannis Petrakis PAS Giannina, and can not count them Tzimopoulou and Strouna. The two players depart Sunday to integrate the National N. Zealand and Slovenia respectively, despite the effort the club to achieve their participation in tomorrow's game.

Club are 10th from 16 teams after 10 games.

The club have sanctions placed on them this season because of financial issues.

Huh? Do you mean Europa League? And I'm pretty sure they don't get entry to that from 6th place - Greece has 2 Champions League spots and 3 Europa League spots, so you'd have to finish 5th and hope that the cup finalists already had CL spots to get a Europa League spot. Or am I missing something?

Teams second to fifth enter a playoff for the second spot.

okay, weird. But 6th place still wouldn't make the playoffs though? And the playoffs are just between Greek teams so not actually part of the Europa League anyway

I know how the UEFA coefficient works, and Greece has 2 CL and 3 EL spots. That doesn't explain how 6th place in the league can have entry to the EL, if 2-5 playoff for the 2nd CL spot.

So his team is in the europa league qualifying (3rd round). Lost to AZ 1-0 in leg 1

Tzimopoulos played 45 minutes in a 2–1 loss at home in the second leg vs AZ. 3–1 on aggregate. He played the first half, they conceded two goals, and he was substituted at half time. Then his replacement helped them not concede another goal the second half... Bad day in the office.

After PAS Giannina's match vs APO Levadiakos on 16 October being postponed for some reason their next match was last week at home to AE Larisa in which they won 4–0. With Tzimopoulous on the pitch they haven't conceded a goal this season in the league yet; without him they conceded 4 although that was to Greek powerhouses Panathinaikos.

On Monday (Tuesday NZ) they play away to Panetolikos who are currently 11th compared to Giannina's 5th despite Tzimopoulous' team having played only 5 times (the least in the league).
