AP what arrangement does he have with Smith ?? I didn't see a gripe from Hudson about him not playing

Do you feel the same about Glenn Moss ?

Still don't get the angst about a friendly with Oman, miles out from any important games

Mr Hudson is gripping because he is happy to be dicked around by a championship player hoping that one day when it suits Mr Smiths profile and bank balance, he offers his services. Likely the next confederations cup if we make it. That's worth a bit of coin to the players and puts Mr Smith in the world spot light.

It is clear that it is all about Mr Smith and that is his game plan here. Hudson as the coach is letting this player choose his own game plan.

Smith has some serious history in this area which Moss does not have. I also understand that Mr Moss has had a baby so compleetly understandable.

Since the WCQs against Mexico Tommy has now missed 7 AWs squads and only actually appeared in one squad (one which played two games - China and Thailand this time last year).

Although apparently he did make himself available for this game: http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/28415/smit...

hmmmmm....

Good luck to the Mosses for their baby for sure.  Some personal reasons are better than others, but if they are accepted by the coach, they are the essentially the same.

Personally I am happy for our best team to be on the paddock at the times that matter, and if Smith is the best in his position then, call him up

Agreed Hepa we will not be beating the 5th ranked South American side with either a team of A league, ASB or underage guys we are going to need our very best 11 on the park and Smith will always be In this 11 I would say for close to the next decade. We need more friendlies in the UK imo to bring these guys in. Go crazy with selections of the foreign players and then maybe 1 or 2 from the Nix to limit the damage and then maybe Barba from the Victory who I could see bumping up his flight to first class to mitigate injuries to him =P

I agree and disagree. Oman is only a shortish flight from the UK. One of the few times travel should not be a factor for him.

Ipswich featuring Smith beat Leeds not featuring Wood 2-1

Tractor boys lie 5th in The Championship  for what will no doubt be a hotly contested run to the four playoff spots

Permalink Permalink

Yeah they must have one of the worst playoff records of any championship side always seem to make it then lose. Do the play offs run during the OFC cup ? That would suck to miss him for that comp.

If Ipswich make Championship Play-Off Final on May 28th, most likely he will miss at least the first few games in PNG.

OFC Nations Cup runs 28 May – 11 June 2016.

Of course Ipswich could be automatically promoted (5 points behind Derby in 2nd spot) - or miss out on the playoffs all together. Still 20 games to go in the regular season 2nd Division slogfest!

Always rates very highly on who scored. I personally think he would be more than capable its just that he has a very specific skill set. Reminds me of Aussie Skipper Jedinak Big and strong, a decent tackler, good in the air, good at breaking down attacks but not the best passer of the ball. He would go alright at stoke or maybe west brom I think. The more counter attacking the team would be better. The main problem is recruiting from the championship tends to focus on ball playing central mids or goal creating fullbacks and wingers aside from the promoted teams of course. Its a shame there isn't really a good in between league for the EPL and championship as not much on the continent is similar to Britain in terms of style of play.

Marriage proposal was behind his latest international absence.

Says he's available for the OFC Nation's Cup:

When you read that, you kinda think to yourself 'fudge have we as fans over reacted here a little?'

Why did he schedule it during an international window? And is he saying his wedding is during the world cup qualifiers?

Permalink Permalink

You're joking right?

Christ all he is doing is proposing. It's not like it's a wedding or anything

i can just  imagine my bosses reaction if I asked for a week off for that lame excuse

Knowing Smith's reputation for pulling out of things he probably will pull out of this anyway

No, because it's the fact that he's missed so many squads before that's made us react like this.

No quote from Tommy Smith in the article ".....The wedding will be in June 2017 – it’s all booked and I’ve checked the fixtures!”

So either doesn't rate our chances of getting to Confed Cup or just forgot that its scheduled from 17 June-2 July  2017

I don't care who or what any player or administrator does but posts like this one are not cool. End of. If you can't express an opinion without resorting to that language suggest you follow league.

I think it's perfectly acceptable. This is not your 1st rodeo either and you have probably heard language like that yourself at grounds and in this forum.

Why would he want to play??

To get to the next stage of WQ we only have to finish in the top 6 and without him we should still have the quality to qualify for the confed cup a tournament worth showing up for.

I don't like it but i certainly understand it.

think you are seriously over estimating our talent without Reid, Smith and Thomas

We won't qualify for the confeds cup, without those players

We have to win it not just make top 6 - Confeds Cup gives us cash + preparation

Surely the ASB Premiership is the top club comp in the confederation, therefore a team made up of ASB players should win it with enough preperation and the right coach. Considering we don't have that preparation or coach then we need our pros, but we should still win it with a team which is mostly A-League / South African / ASB Premiership players.
