Shifting the focus to Sheffield United, Chris Wilder was asked specifically about Mark McGuinness starting thatover Tyler Bindon lately and this was what he said:

Well, Mark got put back into the team because we felt we needed to to change the team around. I think he's been he's been really good in the couple of games that we've played. Second half at Bristol City I know it was one-way traffic but anything that he had to do from a defensive situation he did with [Japhet Tanganga] and you know it was a difficult afternoon, especially the first half up against Oli McBurnie on Saturday afternoon. He's done enough in training, good personality, good character, so he's in the team on merit. And he's under contract, yeah, for another two or three years.”

Those words don’t deny that Bindon being on loan is a factor in him being dropped... but they do emphasise that it’s not the only reason. The mention of Oli McBurnie is telling since the rugged Scottish international’s physicality for Hull City (he’s a former Sheffield Utd player too) may also have been a factor in McGuinness being preferred. The club already announced that Tom Davies is leaving the club at the end of the term so they are clearly getting on with plotting for next season and it seems like Bindon could have been collateral damage in that project. Fair enough, really. But he did get a dozen minutes off the bench as the Blades fortified their defences in a 2-0 win away against Watford. Patrick Bamford scored both goals. Bindon has played 24 games in the Championship now and that was only the second time he’s been used as a substitute.

McGuinness is an Irish international who started out in the Arsenal academy and was signed last year for a fee that could reportedly climb as high £10m so the fact that Tyler Bindon was ever starting ahead of him at all was amazing. Shows how brilliantly he was performing... and why Nottingham Forest seemingly still have him in their plans (nobody’s talking about Sheffield United signing him permanently any more).

Surely Forest wait to see if they get relegated before confirming anything. If they do, Bindon might be perfect. It doesn't mean he's not also in their plans if they stay up, but he'd surely be central to their plans if they go down (which feels less likely now that Spurs have shit the bed but is very much still possible).

Forest are also only 3 games away from playing Champions League next season. And so will need a big squad to navigate EPL or Championship plus Europe if so.

Throw in 4 different coaches and it's quite the crazy campaign.

Blades trail 0-3 at HT hosting Blackburn and gaffer Wilder ain’t happy
Starter Bindon one of 4 players dragged off at the break!
Finishes 1-3.
Blades did have nothing to play for (they will finish mid table), whilst Blackburn needed the win to 100% confirm they would avoid the drop to L1. One team motivated, the other not?

Championship plus Champions League would be a hell of a schedule.

Wood has actually played Championship and European football in the same season once before!

Wigan, Ipswich and Millwall have also done it. But I think it's been Championship with UEFA Cup or Europa League combined. Not the UCL!

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cm25p4ndmdyo#:~:text=To%20give%20an%20idea%20of,would%20seem%20an%20impossible%20task.

In 2011, Birmingham stunned Arsenal to win the League Cup when Obafemi Martins' late goal earned the Blues their first major trophy.

Yet they were relegated from the Premier League three months later and faced the Europa League in the Championship.

The finished third in Group H, behind Club Brugge and Braga, to exit the competition despite losing just two of their six games and winning 10 points.

Their victory over Club Brugge in Belgium coming courtesy of a stoppage-time winner from current Forest striker Chris Wood.

Apologies right you are, and that makes me feel better.
He replaced  McGuinness at HT, who as per the Niche Cache comments above had been starting ahead of Tyler recently.

Blades have 2 matches left, hopefully Bindon can start both to stay match sharp before the World Cup. Especially given there must be some uncertainty about Boxy now and his on going abductor strain. Boxall missing again for Minny's match today.

I believe Sheffield want to buy him and Forest want to wait and see what goes down with them. Duncan Oughton is a manager of his btw.

He wasn’t among the subs as well and not listed as injured.

I see that Forest’s centre backs are going down like flies at a very important busy time for them.

Wonder if an early release to provide cover may be on the cards.

It’s probably a long shot, but if Forest make the Europa league final and have already avoided relegation by then it wouldn’t surprise me to see an entirely changed matchday squad in the penultimate game against Man U. Small chance Bindon could yet make his PL debut this season if that were the case, or a spot on the bench. Either way it won’t hurt to have a few weeks of training with the new(ish) coach, who he may not have even met?

I doubt he could play due to club registrations, he will be training as their squad is still going whilst Sheffield is done for the season.

They virtually wheeled out their second team verses Chelsea the other day when still in the relegation scrap, so yep high probability they will also rotate again completely if they make the Europa final, especially as it looks now they are clear after the Chelsea victory.

As I thought earlier in the thread, I think there is a chance that Bindon may make it.

Registration you would think would be simple for the premiership- tougher for Europe.

Update: turns out this is unlikely, unless there are some very unusual clauses in his loan contract about returning to his parent club outside of a transfer window. So it seems much more likely he’ll just be training with the team for the next few weeks before jetting off to the World Cup.

I guess he'll do pre season with Forest after the World Cup.
But you'd think they will send him out on loan again. Staying up in the EPL, but not being in Europe again, likely means a smaller squad for next season?

New Zealand international Tyler Bindon appears to have played his last game for English Championship club Sheffield United.

Bindon (21) has farewelled the club through social media after completing his loan spell and expected return to English Premier League side Nottingham Forest, where he has a contract till June 2028.

“It has been a pleasure to call myself a Blade this season,” Bindon posted on Instagram.

“I want to thank all the fans, players, and staff for making me feel so welcome from day one.

“I wish everyone connected with the club all the very best for the future. Thank you for everything.”

In March, United manager Chris Wilder indicated he was keen for Bindon to stay when his season-long loan ended.

“He’s somebody that we would openly be interested in talking to. I’d like to think that he’s enjoyed his period (at United),” Wilder told The Star.

Bindon played 26 games for United in all competitions, but missed the club’s last two fixtures because of an ankle injury.
