If fans have dissed you on public forums without offering any actual proof, do you owe them anything ? (Mind you, some may say this is proof).
No proof? I have been told he has an attitude problem from two different people from different organisation. Now this. Players don't owe us anything, regardless of what is said about them. They do owe the club a commitment. And if they don't show that, why should the club play them?
Is watching the game live on TV an expectation of the commitment required to be employed?
How about being an active and supportive squad member. If he was starting, would he want the support of his team mates when they were riding the pine. What about 'Team ethos and culture'
How would you feel if you were playing and one of your team mate could give less of a
shark about the team and how you got on and more about some lame ass new-age SWF porn flick.
Support and watching the game live is not mutually inclusive (unless you think he can magically will on his team through thought alone, maybe him watching games live is jinxing us and we should be encouraging him to watch movies for the rest of the season!!!!).
Every so often you do get pros that openly say that don't watch their team play when they are not available through injury or non-selection. It sounds terrible to fans but they just need to turn up when required and give 100% (some even aren't the best trainers, [cough] Ifill [/cough], but are good enough to get away with it).
I would be far more scathing if he was not training hard, being uncooperative at training, drinking excessively during the season (generally not taking care of his body), undertaking in illegal activities etc. This is really on the low end. Not sure what sort of analysis the 'Nix do, but by now could have watched the game more than just about all the fans.
