i guess the way i'm thinking about it is that there is a difference between contractual commitments and being not-a-cock/decent bloke

I get the media training to say the right things, and he is a young kid.  You'd just like to think that the team that he's been paid by for x-years to develop his football and to play for and the relationship with the guys in his team would warrant a bit of interest from him for one of the big games of the year

meh,  to me this shows a lack of appreciation/respect/decency and a fair bit of self centredness. 

but plenty of business people and sportspeople get by without any of that and half of teenage blokedom exhibits this

just doesn't mean we have to like them
