So Tondela beat Pacos Ferreira 2-0.
With all the debate elsewhere, about strength of Portuguese top flight - interesting that Awer Mabil was a sub for Pacos (subbed on at 67 mins).
Like Nick Ansell, Mabil is another ex-A League guy yet to be a first team regular starter in Portugal (16 games & 9 starts). Got a squad callup for Socceroos last year.
Anyway real issue is, is Boyd currently worthy of a spot in an AWs squad. I say yes. Probaly ahead of Patterson at the moment. Boyd has been off the national team radar now for 2 years - so lets see what standard he is at, by bringing him into the Murcia camp & Canada game for a look.
Hopefully he is available and wants to play, and hopefully new AWs coach has a chat to him. He might not be a superstar, but with such a shallow talent pool, NZ can't afford to ignore looking at a guy, who may add some real value. Of course moot if he is unavailable, or a disruptive team influence.
