One can only speculate what country he would choose with the hot form he's in. Any position in the AW would be his for the taking but for USA he would be competing in a greater talent pool and the player competing for his current position would be Borrusia Dortmund player Christian Pulisic. The USMNT have alot of young players scattered in Europe and in the MLS but I could see Boyd being a really influential player with the young talent in that team.
Yeah, people keep saying "he'll get nowhere near the USMNT" but reality is, bar Pulisic he's one of the best 'American' attackers outside the MLS when you look at ability, form and league
I don't think he is close to the US team. There's many others outside of the US ahead of him, Weah for a start who can play that position ahead of Boyd, and there's many in the MLS who they'd probably rather anyway.
Has had a few good games at his loan club which is great, but would need a heck of a lot more than that to get close to the US team.
We might be underestimating the ability of Vitoria - one of the better teams in what most people consider the best league in the world outside the top 5. Was expecting a very hard journey for Boyd trying to work his way into that side.
Weah would likely be striker in USA's lineup, and Boyd's been playing on the flanks for the past few seasons so probably not too much crossover there - past Pulisic, it's practically a free for all, and Boyd is playing at a better level right now than other wingers they've called up recently - Julian Green, Kenny Saief, Jonathan Amon, etc etc. If Boyd keeps his form up he'll have some serious choices to make
