His reasons to play for the USA are more than fair enough, don't think he has anyone to answer to.  However, I don't see why kiwis should care too much about him, he's chosen them and won't represent AW's ever again, that's that.  He's getting a lot of press for someone who chose a different country imo.  I think it will turn out to be a huge loss, but it says more about NZF than him.

Because he's a New Zealander achieving on the global football stage. Just because he's playing for a different country doesn't change that. No different to me than supporting Reid or Wood at overseas clubs - I don't support them because they play for NZ, I support them because they're NZers.

How about the lad at Leicester who plays for England, never became involved in youth AW setups (who knows whether NZF ever approached him).

I think we would be less hard on him if he tried for the USA first and had never played for the AWs.

Winnie and Rory obviously played for other nations first but then chose NZ unlike Tyler who feels like he’s turned his back on us after representing NZ at the highest level.
