Does anyone know what position he plays - sounds like a meteoric rise?

Was their a young lad called Travis Dally Braun (10) also going to the Hammers?

Re: Lewis Tiller, West Ham u-18's
Haven't seen any indication in the media of his position.
He played for Fencibles senior reserve side earlier this year.
I think his dad is Auckland rock star Deane Sutherland of 1980's group Satellite Spies who are still going:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_Spies
His achievement is all the more amazing when you consider he's a small town kid from Dannevirke and only moved to Auckland last year to further his career, and as this UK headline says "West Ham fly 11,000 miles to pluck young prodigy from 300 footballers at New Zealand training session":
The kid's no fool either - was top of his class at Dannevirke High School in English, Maths and Science.
Slaven Bilic likes giving talented youngsters a run as evidenced by Reece Oxford aged 16 this season, the youngest ever Hammers player to get a run in the first team.
It's unlikely his international clearance ha come through yet - it can take some weeks.
But it's been reported on in the UK media and on Hammers fan forums.
This forum even details who scouted him in NZ (Tommy Taylor's son apparently):

17 year old New Zealander Lewis Tiller is set to sign for the club after impressing scouts at a training session in New Zealand.

Tiller should become part of the U18 side.
Good luck to Lewis Tiller.
that's awesome can't be to many players coming from there.
A lot more details on Lewis Tiller signing for West Ham here:
He goes over there in February and is set to play for West Ham u-18's in a tournament in Australia in April.
Lewis is a holding midfielder.
"Sutherland said he had underestimated his son's skills.
"Coming up from Dannevirke was the biggest thing, he was really off the radar. I had no idea how good at football he was. People are saying 'where's this boy from?'"
He's been living with his dad, '80's and 90's rock musician Deane Sutherland of band Satellite Spies the last 18 months in Auckland.

Recent TV interview with Deane Sutherland about his band's history, opening for Dire Straits etc. (starts two minutes in):
Yes ,Travis is due to go back to West Ham for 2 weeks at the end of March 2016,for another camp, trials and matchesThis will be his 3rd trip.

Maybe one for the U20 campaign that must be kicking off soon?
Clearly recognised his chances for England are slim, so we are his next best option.
.@Walts_97 is eligible for @NZ_Football thru grandparent. Currently on loan at @derehamtown from @NorwichCityFC https://t.co/hTO0TLynnE

This Youtube clip is a blast from the past from an annual tournament in Northern Ireland
Dunedin teams go every year but Auckland is going for the first time under the name MS Select (A sponsor I think?)

Good luck to all the players
I think Southern United use this tournament to help pick their U17 team for the Auckland U17 Youth Tournaments

Is he about to go... just returned?
Seems a funny thing to get so wrong.
The Otago team at the Nike Cup in Norther Ireland have not had a great tournament with two 6 - 0 losses and a 4 - 0 loss. A bit disappointing after they beat Burnley in a friendly prior to the game 1 - 0.
Still a great chance for some of our younger players to see what the next level is like.

Agreed. It hasn't got much better for Otago. They are playing off for 21-26 place out of 26 teams in their section. MS Selection from Auckland are with them after losing most of their games but managing to at least score. The two kiwi teams may play each other?
The MS Select U16 side have done a bit better and managed to win a game with two close losses. Arzan Todywalla the futsal golden boot and Birmingham trialist has knocked a few in. I hope he makes Hay's U17 team.

Denmark?
I thought this kid was at West Ham, or on trial?
Wow. Great scoop. Mystery. I think we all hope it is a different Lewis Tiller given the big raps he got in the media. Are you telling me I may have to take a coloured pin off my map of the world? Shark!

Just to add to the players coming back to nz with little or no fan fair. Ollie Derlin has been at Sacred Heart all season after being the Dortmund wonderkid - I hadn't heard he was back. Still Sacred won the comp again. Hope he makes Hays U17 squad. He's at the right school.

Yeah, for some reason these 'wunderkids' appear a bit less wunderful once you see them playing local park footie eh?
Its hard to gauge players sometimes when playing in lesser leagues... players don't make the same runs, passes aren't as good etc etc.

Yeah great point!
From me though, I was expecting him to be playing first team, but it seems he is a reserve player at Bays.
Reserve player getting some first team minutes? if he's only 15 / 16 its still not a bad effort if its a decent first team etc.

I think Lewis Tiller is 18 now. When he set off he said he had never been overseas. Would have been big step up in the UK. Was hoping he would have been in the U20 frame. But must not have stood out if he got a trial.
