Wow. Great scoop. Mystery. I think we all hope it is a different Lewis Tiller given the big raps he got in the media. Are you telling me I may have to take a coloured pin off my map of the world? Shark!

Just to add to the players coming back to nz with little or no fan fair. Ollie Derlin has been at Sacred Heart all season after being the Dortmund wonderkid - I hadn't heard he was back. Still Sacred won the comp again. Hope he makes Hays U17 squad. He's at the right school.

Yes, he is in the right school, because all schools outside of Auckland and Wellington don't exist to the U17s or U20s selectors.

Probably not - left Naaaaarich for a life of sun in Gibraltar with Europa Point FC, but left after next-to-no-time, and is now enjoying the obscurity of playing part time footy/full time shelf stacking with some team called Dereham Town in Blighty.

He was with them before when he was on Norwich's books as part of their academy squad.

This Lewis Tiller thing was misrepresented by the NZ media.

The media said that he was "the only kid from hundreds who trialed in Australasia to be selected for West Ham's u-18 team"

The reality is that West Ham run a commercial racket whereby they hold competitions (not real trials) around the world and the winners get to travel to London at their own cost for one game against a Hammers academy team.

It's called "The Elite Academy Experience" and hardly anyone who goes to London gets signed.

Those selected for the academy experience are required to pay their own way to and from London, which carries a total cost of about $5500..

While there, the player will train and have a game against the West Ham United academy team and also receive a complete set of training kit, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Boleyn Ground, West Ham's stadium, and tickets to a Hammers game in the EPL.

Not at all the same thing as being scouted by an EPL club and invited for proper trials or being offered a place in a youth team.

However, this Tiller kid must have some ability, because Bret Angell has included him in his Hawkes Bay SS Premiership squad after he initially played pre-season games for Hamilton Wanderers.

Thanks Big Pete. I was wondering how that worked. It sounded pretty far out. I guess any player who is told that have to pay their own way to a pro organisation for a trial of sorts needs to be very weiry. If they want you they would spring for the travel.

I guess Lewis is really outside the UK now.

And yes. Just saw his name in the Hawkes Bay wider squad today. Great to see he is being given a chance. He has more control over his fortunes now.

Played in a 5-a-side against a team he was in years ago, when he was young. He was a niggly little prick always kicking people after the ball, and my mate grabbed him by the shoulders and shoved him down saying "take that you little cnut"

Ahhh, good days

Going to have to make another visit to Truro.  One big problem is that the side is not playing well.  Rory is clearly behind all the kiwi lads being signed but if their form does not improve, him and Hodges could well be shown the door along with their signings.

Micheal Den Heijer a center back who plays for NEC Nijmegen u21. A young lad who is only 20 and has played 5 games and scored 2 goals, has played for the NZ u17's 8 times. Looks like a good young talent, would great to see him grow becuase NZ does look a little light on cb especially when reid isn't called up.

Might have found his ideal role... if he keeps scoring as a CB it can only help... unless they are conceeding heaps at the same time!

Made contact with Tom yesterday and he said he's hoping to be at Slough again in pre-season in readiness for next season. Played two games in all this campaign so far. Club sits in a very credible 5th position with one game of the season left, next Saturday against Leamington.

Depends on whether he acquired kiwi citizenship while here I guess as well.  He certainly hasn't lived in NZ for 5 years after age 18.  We don't know his parents' nationalities either, so very hard to determine if he's even eligible.

Great goal in that video, but concerning to read he's already had 3 knee reconstructions by 21.

His mum represented NZ in Judo at the Olympics in 2000, but was born in Scotland, as was he.

Jack must have come to NZ as an infant, and left when he was 10. He represented Australia at the 2012 AFC U16 Championship.
