Another Kiwi in the UK.
Will be keeping an eye out for him and his development.

Good luck to the kid. 👏

Good signs that he's been with the first team for several months since his arrival from the USA.

Very well spoken for an 18 year old and a thoughtful insight on his journey so far.

Will be deserving of his own thread if he makes the Matchday squad for their Carabao Cup match against Millwall tomorrow morning.

Tyler Bindon played this morning for Reading in a trial game against Southampton.
https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2023/july/22/report-reading-vs-southampton/
He's been training there for a while, and has played in a couple of earlier pre-season games.

Looks like another Tyler Boyd situation, has already played two games for USA

Was talking to someone on twitter who said this about him...

Will absolutely do my head in if we've not even had a chat to him. 🤦‍♂️

Thankfully that’s not true lol. Think the most that may have happened is that he wasn’t in consideration/approached for the U20 WC squad

So just to clarify Sam, NZF know about Bindon but he wasn't considered good enough for the U20 WC squad?

If so, that could look a bit silly if he makes a few apperances in Reading's senior team this season - even in the League Cup. He's already in & around the first team, and was heavily involved in their pre season struff.

Also we gave the Americans one US-Kiwi Tyler, only fair they give us one back.

Loving the contributions mate. Good find 👏
Decent signs (even if it is a friendly) to turn out in the U21's as a 16 year old.

Hamilton winger Jordan Lamb has taken his talents to England, joining 8th-tier Dunston. Look like a pretty savvy club - excellent media releases, from which a few NZ sides could take some notes

Team of the week honours for Zac Jones over in Wales.

Good to see him start the season strongly. Hopefully a few clubs are taking note of the strong performances he's put in recently. 🤞

Bit of a left field one here, and I still have a little more digging to do on my end to chase up a few details, but here we go for the meantime.

Isaac James-Dudding (GK) out of the Swansea City Academy.
Lad already has four caps for the Welsh U15's from a tournament played in Croatia earlier this year. I believe his eligibility comes about through parent/s but have sought clarification on this.

Rory Falloon may have some idea. He was an age group coach at the Swans, before moving to NZ to work at the Nix.

Hearing Tauranga City LB Adam Davidson (23, ex-Hamilton Wanderers starter in the Handa Prem) has signed for Northern Irish side Glenavon. Good side historically, always around the top of the table, but are dead last this season with four losses in four games.

That makes top-tier Kiwis in each of the home nations and Ireland. So cool to see

Henry Gray with his first start for the Ipswich Town u21's up against Fleetwood Town in their Professional Development League (PDL) match.

Should be just about finished this one. Last update at 88 mins was sitting 1-0 to Fleetwood Town.

19-year-old, former Western Springs forward Dawson Straffon joined Bedfont Sports in England's Combined Counties League Premier Division North - which is the 9th tier. Bedfont Sports were relegated last season, finishing one point off safety in the Isthmian South Central League. They have two wins, a draw and a loss from four league matches so far, and also just went out of the FA Cup after a 3-0 away loss in a replay against 8th-tier Herne Bay.

He played just the 45 minutes of Northern League this season - first half of the opening match of the season - before heading over to the UK. Though across 2021 and 2022 he played 36 Northern League matches, scoring thirteen times - nine of which came last year.

Kick off in 20 minutes.

Comfortable win & a clean sheet for Gray in his second appearance for the u21's.

Big confidence boost for the lad early on in England. 💪

Marley Leuluai on the bench for the U21's in their Professional Development League 'North' match this evening.

Things progressing nicely for him so far at Turf Moor having featured a couple of times for the Burnley U18's already this season.

Gets his debut as well. Comes on late in the piece in a 3-0 win.

He's still 16!

Good interview with Ipswich Town's resident Kiwi Henry Gray. Give it a listen.

Interesting to hear that he was also trialling out at Luton Town, and Barnsley, but was only 17, so couldn't get signed up. Also alluded to the fact that he could have followed Ben Waine to Plymouth Argyle, before settling on Ipswich.
Really good insight into life as a pro footballer, and he seems to be settling in nicely over in the UK.

Also nice little bit at the end there relating to Adam Supyk (who I've been tracking news on for months!) who is travelling to Ipswich later on this week for a trial.

Bloody good stuff from the Olé academy once more.

Izumi (2005) already has 38 appearances at Central League level + 1 appearance in the South Central Series back when covid scuppered the first edition of the new National League setup.

Wildash-Chan on the other hand has 21 appearances across the Central League these past two seasons.

Good luck to the kids. You never know what could come of it!

Love to see this stuff, and excellent to see the Olé production line ramping up again after remaining relatively quiet these past few years.

Hopefully works out well for the pair of them and we see something announced down the line. 🤞

Some cool stuff happening for the lads. Wonder if this is an official trial or just a chance to train and get a bit of experience which has been jacked up, before heading back home?

Either way, great experience for the both of them.

Gray the only young Kiwi in action in the UK recently, as Adam Watson, Noah Dupont & Marley Leuluai have only just returned to their clubs after U-17's duty in Japan.

Full 90 for Gray overnight as Ipswich fell to a 2-0 defeat against Bristol City in the U21 PDL.

Long time viewer, first time poster here. Was looking thru the list of kiwis on FM 24 as early-access just released and it looks like there's another kiwi at Reading! Apologies if he's already been mentioned. Jacob Borgnis is a midfielder who's is either 20, 19 or 18, I've found 3 separate date of births for him. I thought this may have been a mistake but I checked the Reading website and he's listed as a kiwi there too. He was in FM23 but he didn't have New Zealand down as a nationality so I wonder if Bindon's call-up had anything to do with him suddenly becoming a kiwi

For what it's worth, he's listed on Transfermarkt and plays in the PL2 as a DM/CM with the likes of Matt Dibley-Dias (Fulham).

And he's getting minutes which is good! Thanks for the warm welcome. There were a couple of other new names floating around but none in the UK or at a similar level. Couple of guys in Singapore and Hong Kong, two in Sweden, one in Italy and one with in the UAE at a team called Fleetwood United which I thought was quite funny.

Great find well done. I wonder which of Hammond, Chambers or Borgnis is the Kiwi lineage? Automatically comes into reckoning for the next U20 WC (2025)? Note is born May 2003

FYI - my 26 yr old nephew played senior mens grade here on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland for Kawana FC, they made the final (sadly lost to Noosa) which is a good effort considering half the team were 18 yr olds. Two of the youngsters missed a chunk of the season away in the UK training at the Fleetwood Town Academy. Then they missed the final for a trial opportunity in the UAE, which came about from their time in the UK. So joining the dots.......

Wiki rabbit hole - but story of Fleetwood United (UAE 2nd Divsion) & their former dodgy owner (who also owned Fleetwood Town at one point) is an interesting yarn. The UAE version have a Kiwi keeper Brandon Sumpter.

Bit of an update on a couple of players.

Lawton Green is in Scotland and training with an unnamed club.

Corban Piper (I know he has his own thread) has finished up at Wexford, but will be staying in Europe. Hopefully looking to trial at a few clubs over the next wee while, with England on the radar.

Bronson Sammut is back in New Zealand for now, but will be heading back to Europe later on this year/start of 2024.

I stand corrected. Older brother Luca is currently top of his group (Italian 4th div) with Sanbenedettese. 0 goals in 9 games.

Alessandro (who is also a dual citizen by the sounds of it) is on loan at 5th Div (Eccellenza) club Torrese. They are 11th and he also hasn't scored yet.
