Young Kiwis in UK
Cameron Lindsay made his first appearance for Blackburn u18's vs Bolton for ages, coming on as an 86th minute sub
Is that because he doesn't look like making the grade at rovers?
No it is because they showed interest and it was a good experience for him. He still has work to do at Rovers but things are hardly going terribly for him there.
Here I could buy at a very long stretch, but no-one in the conference is getting 100,000 pounds a year.
With regards to wages, totally depends on the level of club your going to be playing for and the aspirations of the club. Many lower league teams dont even bother with contracts and sign players on non-contract terms wages will tend to be minimal and travel expenses are usually covered. Contact players, ive worked with a few at conference south level that were getting paid 2000 a week, but to be fair they were playing way below what they should of been at the time.
hope it helps,
Scouty
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->yea i have searching the free agents, most of their salaries start from 1100 but you've to up that to closer 1600 to get their interest...which is still pricey.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
<!-- google_ad_section_start -->I'm a non-league footballer at Eastbourne Borough in the Blue Square Premier. We are one of only 2 clubs in that league not to be full time! Even though it is a non-professional league, all but a few of the players that I know at EB live entirely off their football income, which ranges from around 250 a week for players graduating from the reserves and youth, to around 700 as the top earner, plently to live off. As we only train 2 evenings a week presently, there is plently of time for the players to have other jobs, and there are definitely a few who fill their spare time labouring, building, plastering and the like to suplement their income!<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
That figure, which equates to 13,000 per week, typically rises by between 60% and 100% when performance-related bonuses are taken into account.
Strikers have the highest average annual salary, with 806,000, while midfielders earn about 754,000.
Defenders earn 653,000 on average and Premiership goalkeepers make 533,000. <!-- E SF -->
The basic pay represents an average rise of around 65% from the average figure in 2000.
Players' bonuses vary enormously - depending on the terms of their deal - but could easily double a footballer's salary.
Bonuses may include appearance money of about 5,000 per game - even if the player only comes on as a last-minute substitute.
<!-- S I -->
Players can also look forward to a share of a win bonus following each victory and an end-of-season performance bonus - often related to whether a team stays up or qualifies for Europe.
Further bonuses may follow if a club reaches a cup final and there may also be goal bonuses.
Wages are also staggered according to age, with the highest earners tending to be those aged between 27 and 30.
Salaries drop considerably in lower divisions, although they are still substantial.
Championship players earn an average salary of 195,750, League One players 67,850 and League Two 49,600.
About 400 players across the four professional divisions responded to the survey.
Closer to $150k I think you'll find.
Kris is now playing for Quorn FC in the Northern Premier League Division One South, which is the 8th tier of English football. He's 25 so not sure if you'd class him as 'young'.

To be fair, this thread isn't titled "Young kiwis playing in the UK above conference level" though. And I think it's kind of interesting knowing about kiwi players playing in the lower leagues.

with some connection to Nelson gets signed by a 9th-division team * *offer not seriouz
True though isn't it.
Give the guy a break Luis. Abris does an excellent job covering all these players in his own time.

Thats a bit of a demotion. Yes TNS play in very early stages of European Cup comps but having watched both sides played, Basingstoke is probably the better side.
i havent seen either play, butthat is surprising
i havent seen either play, butthat is surprising
Welsh League footie is just a bit bitter then the Northern League, equal to maybe the bottom couple of sides in the NZC. Yeah Basingstoke are in the 6th tier but its arguably as good as the NZC.

FYI. TNS played Liverpool in the Champions league qualifying round the year after Liverpool won Big Ears.
Ironically (yes, Alanis), I just queried on a Burnley message board yesterday if anyone knew anything about the move, as nothing had reported from any Burnley source to that point in time. And wahoo.
To put it into perspective none of the apprentice intake of two years ago got a professional contract (about 5 or 6 from memory). Usually 1 or 2 of about 6 per year make it beyond apprenticeship, although the attrition rate is pretty high beyond that. There are some very promising 2nd years at the club (been getting runs in the pre-season), and there has been a conscious shift to youth focus under new manager Eddie Howe. So not a bad environment for Cam.
He'll have his work cut out, but good luck to him.
