Mods perhaps you can set up individual posts now for both McGarry & Den Hoven.

Hard to remember this many young Kiwis all at once getting (or potentially getting) pro gigs in Europe - especially if Rogerson also gets signed.

James McGarry is on a two year senior first team contract at Willem II (with a club option to renew for a further two years).

But van den Hoven is only on an u-19 youth team contract at RKC Waalwijk:

Or keep him away from Rudan's prying eyes?

I think the Nix know by now how Declan feels about his players going there.

There is nothing preventing Ole kids going to the nix, or to the national leagues. For some reason, they do not want to.

Perhaps they believe they already are in the best place for their development?

Never heard of him, but a very good move nonetheless! Did he play much for Suburbs last season if at all?

Great to see he’s been thrown into the first team there.

Let’s not underestimate how well Max Mata’s doing either - he’s part of the first team training squad (second row far left), and will be lining up to play Zenit tomorrow!

Mata's month long trial, must nearly be at an end.

Swiss Super League starts this weekend, with Grasshopper Club (9th last season) away to Young Boys (last year's runaway champions).

Mata got a brace in an 8-0 friendly win... can't hurt his chances... didn't he leave the NIX due to homesickness, how is he going to handle Europe?

The fact he's still there in Suisse I'm taking as an indication, he will be signed if they can sort out a visa.

Seems like there is generally few non-European players in the Swiss league. Grasshopper Club have three at the moment (Ivory Coast, Congo and Colombia).

Grasshopper lost 0-2 away to Young Boys (last season's champs) in their season opener. Had a guy sent off after 55 mins, and conceded both goals after send off.

Osnabruck was one of former All White Aaron Lines from Christchurch's clubs.

40 appearances in the 3.Bundesliga in one and a half seasons before joining the Football Kingz.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaran_Lines

Aaron later became the first Kiwi to play in the Polish top flight 2002-2004 (Ruch Chorsow and Arka Gdynia)

Aaron became NZ's most successful coaching export, building the strongest US women's franchise (the team included Marta, Alex Morgan & Christine Sinclair), winning I think three US women's national league titles with Western New York Flash.

Aaron now has his own private football school in the States:

Unlucky, but them's the breaks in football. Roll with the punches and move on. Still a young lad, so plenty of time to forge a career. Would have been a real eye opener for him, with his documented issues around homesickness and the like. Hope he can kick on and pick up a contract elsewhere.

Could well be although one of the two is apparently only going there to train with the team and play for the reserves.  Not sure I'd pick that over being in a professional environment for a whole season of two it that were my decision.

Then again, Europe has a huge pull on every aspiring professional.

Yes he did. I think all 3 keepers got a game.

Woud has to do what’s best for him, but if I was NZF I’d be a bit annoyed.

He could now rank as no 2 keeper for AWs being 2nd keeper at Wilhem. Gleeson seems well on outer at Portland, and Crocombe not starter for Salford in English 5th tier. So a serious loss if throws his lot in with Holland.

Still AWs have pinched few age internationals off other countries in the past, so glasshouses & stones I guess.

I'm just intrigued that someone like him who's had limited professional/high level experience, is contemplating a switch to such a competitive team - but in the end, good on him!
If he thinks he can make it at that level, he's certainly showing ambition.

Obviously he'll be left to pick up the pieces if he gets a competitive cap for The Netherlands and then falls out of favor.

If he plays for the Dutch in an official game at U20 level that would be it, you can switch only once.

So are the 'upcoming matches' friendlies or competitive games? Because if they're competitive ones that that truly is it.

Were the India matches not competative games?

I would have thought the moment you play for a senior team, thats it - you are locked in for life.

Friendly match appearances do not commit a player to one country as the Cup tournament was a friendly tournament organised by Indian Football and not FIFA it doesn't cap tie him.

No. Competitive matches are the World Cup and associated qualifying, continental tournaments and associated qualifying, Confederations Cup, and the new League of Nations.

I'm guessing we're talking about qualifiers for U19 EUROs? The Dutch have three games in the first qualifying stage in October against the Faroes, Bosnia, and Ireland.
