Discussion of whether the A-League is technically strong, or merely just physical

The bloke that writes on Australian/A-League matters on goal.com (Chris Paraveskas) would have to be the biggest un-knowledgeable tool I have seen for a while, he's only 18 or 19 and acts like he's been around for years.

The internet websites unravel some gems (Tony Tannous from www.theroar.com.au is good and Jesse Fink is controversial at times, but at least readable most of the time) but then again some horsechewers like Chris Paraveskas find their way through 'the system'.

The main problem I have with the article is that it completely ignores the fact that players from the A-League are wanted by clubs all over the world, and that numerous players from the A-League have gone on to play overseas.  The idea that all of them are there in spite of and not because of the A-League is a bit odd.

I certainly don't think that the finals series has anything to do with the style of play.  Teams play to win in every league, whether there is a top 4 or a top 2 seems irrelevant (no matter whether mediocrity is rewarded).

Personally I don't think the A-League is terribly lacking technically, but I think it's quite poor tactically.  I don't see many players who seem to have strong tactical discipline or much in the coaching that would stand up against clever disciplined opponents.
