Phoenix could be without skipper Ross Aloisi for the trip to
Newcastle - he has been charged with violent conduct
The depth of the Wellington Phoenix squad is sure to face a stern
test this weekend if skipper Ross Aloisi is suspended by Football
Federation Australia.
Aloisi has been charged with violent conduct following an incident
in Friday's A-League match against the Queensland Roar and he may
be suspended for this weekend's trip to Newcastle. The incident was
in the second minute of the match when Aloisi appeared to elbow
Queensland's Hyuk-Su Seo. The tenacious midfielder will answer the
charge on Friday at Football Federation Australia headquarters in
Sydney.
The Phoenix will be desperate to avoid a suspension as the club is
already without Tim Brown, Jeremy Christie, Tony Lochhead, Shane
Smeltz and Mark Paston who are with the All Whites for the World
Cup qualifier against Fiji.
