You know what really grinds my gears...

Has anyone else noticed that every australian who is signed by an A-League club from overseas is a "socceroo"? Half of them I've never even heard of and I'm sure many others are the same.

How many of those bastards are there and when did they play for aussie?! There must be at least 40 "socceroos" in the A-League, and none of them except Culina are first choice in a squad of 23. It's really taking the piss a bit!

And that's what really grinds my gears. Back to you Diane.james dean2009-08-11 07:06:25

Those two had crossed my mind, but I couldn't resist the cheap shot.

Gee I dunno 45 players had turn out for the Socceroos and 10 players had turn out for the All Whites plus 13 other internationals. And up to nearly 162 other A-League players. Almost 20% have played for the Socceroos. That's quite high. Of course all our NZ players in the A-league to date has played for the All Whites except for Michael McGlinchey, Marco Roja and Daniel Cortes.

I wonder how many Australians have a duel citizenship with NZ or have a Kiwi grandparent?AllWhitebelievr2009-08-11 23:10:20

Yeah they always do say it. It got my younger bro confused when Aloisi scored and they called him the socceroo. It just seems funny to call everyone who has played for them a Socceroo.

At least Aloisi strung a few games together for the Socceroos and played in the World Cup
