David Beckham and LA Galaxy have signed to play a one-off game against Sydney FC in November, it was announced on Tuesday.
Football Federation Australia secured the promotional coup, conditional on the participation of the English superstar, News Limited reported.
The match is scheduled for Sydney's Olympic Stadium on November 27 with FFA to spend the profits on the entire A-League.
Acting premier John Watkins said the deal, supported by the state government and Telstra Stadium, was a major coup for Sydney.
"In the world of sports entertainment there is no bigger name than David Beckham," he told News Limited.
LA Galaxy had planned an Asian tour but cancelled all but the Sydney leg.

Yep, that is exactly what is stopping me. :p
The fact the game is in the middle of the week, I live a fair
way from the stadium(2 hour drive) and she wants me to concentrate
on school. :(
Oh well, still a lot of time between now and then, something
may happen and I will be able to go.
